My first M91/59

Post by Lee-online »

Came across this on the local classified. I took a drive to go get it yesterday, a littler farther than I normally would go but I wanted to stop at the Flight 93 memorial that was in the area. That was worth the drive in itself. :USA Flag:
Firth one I have handled, I was surprised by how nicely done the refurb is. The rough wartime machining is cleaned off, the bore looks brand new, trigger is so smooth. I cant wait to get to the range with this one.

Anywho, the pics.

Nice, not every 1943 Izhevsk had the rough wartime finish, they may not have had to clean it. :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I assume it was cleaned off because of the polishing marks on the receiver. The top of the receiver has a somewhat of a flat spot. Hard to see but you can feel it. The barrel wasn't polished because I can see the machining marks.

My first C&R rifle was a 91/59. I did not really know what it was. Congratulations... A great pick up. Nice pictures ... Thanks

With the cold winter I haven't been shooting as much but still keep finding rifles. I now have a "few" I haven't shot and need to get them to the range.

I was looking at the 91/59 history and it looks like no one is sure of what these really are and who did them.

That's a beautiful carbine!
Mine is built on a 1937 Tula receiver. I'll NEVER part with it. (While I'm alive, anyway!) I posted pics on the old forum, I should do the same here.
