This is a Russian made Vostok CM-2, as I understand this is an older 2nd generation rifle, there are 4 generations total, with the 4th in current production. These rifles were actually made by Izhmash which is the sporting "civilian" side of Izhvesk. The dates and #s for each gen is unknown but likely started mid to late '70s with gen 1 having a more plain stock without adjustable butt and side mount peeps. Gen 2 used the same side mount peeps and the stock was given a more square fore end, a more pronounced stock pistol grip, and an adjustable butt. Gen 3 was exactly the same as gen 2 except the peeps were mounted on top of the receiver via an 11mm groove. Gen 4 is still in production and has changed very little other than newer sights and very slight changes to the stock.
The "Vostok" brand also includes the Ural which is almost identical to the CM-2 but is slightly bigger and it has a bolt with three internal locking lugs. The Urals were also produced in tandem with the CM-2 and had 3 generations with slight changes as well. Both of these two models have a very unique "self bedding" design where the receiver is square with large knurling (meat hammer) type design on the bottom which bites into the stock to evenly distribute the mating of the action/stock. The action and stock is shown below in the 4th photo.
This particular rifle has a custom made scope mount attachment, so it does not have to be drilled/altered to mount a scope. That was a big plus to me.
