New to me Type 99 (pic heavy)

Post by Vati66 »

Hello all ,

I picked up a Type 99 a few weeks back and I have finally found time to get a few pics of it.

The Sling came with it. I will get an original for it soon

it's too bad the mum is gone. Ah well, maybe I'll find one with it some day

Came with the bayonet

No AA "wings" or monopod. I'll see if I can come across originals in my travels

Enjoy

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Nice Type 99. I ordered a replacement rear sight for my type 99 from Liberty Tree and the one I got had the AA wings, even though their description said they did not have them.

Nice find. I have several tpe 99's and the last time I saw an original monopod it was still being bid on at over $400.00. I can't really tell from the pictures but it looks as though your rear band did not have a monopod to begin with. Not all did.

You found yourself a pretty nice Type 99 looks like a Toyo Kogyo though hard to tell from the pic, can't tell what series. How about a close up of the arsenal mark and kana? The bayonet, pretty cool you have one that's listed as unknown company under Kokura supervision. Nice finds

Toyo Kogyo rifles are pretty cool - made in Hiroshima by the same company that makes Mazda automobiles.
