Why is that :?: :?
Because you are in the USA and they are very "popular". Big demand, and no new ones coming out.

What a collection and if you got it, show it off ! :-)

Yes I agree we do make the Best, just wish I had deeper pockets. LOL

Maybe it's time I get my priorities straight and go back to work for a while so
I can get me some American Firearms !
During the 70's 80's and 90's I was a US milsurp collector, I collected many other rifles during that time, but US stuff is were I lived. I held on to everything.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Cmp sets prices. That is as low as you are going to see a Garand. $625 for a service grade SA is a steal.
CMP is the place to go. They are in the business to promote marksmanship, and retaining M1 Garand (among other things) history. It may be the one of the few places where profit is not the priority. Take the time off, go there, and hand select one for yourself. You will NOT lose money. Its a very liquid investment. And something to enjoy while you have it.

Agreed. $625 on the rack, guaranteed $1000 in a private sale no problem.

If you want to play, you have to pay. I know a collector with a correct M1D and doing a SCAR build up( Leopold scope, larue, harris etc.) and has 4k in each. It's a matter of what you want and if your willing to pay for it. :)

To be fair it takes a gun and optic to get 4k into a SCAR. Buddy just bought one and I  when he told me he dropped $2700 on it and it feels like an airsoft gun.

There are two stores you can go to. North Store is in Ohio. The South store is in
South Store - Anniston, Alabama
3016 Red Morris Parkway, Anniston, AL 36207
Phone: (256) 835-8455 ext 1138

That may be closer.

I wish I would have had the common sense to collect US milsurps during the 80's and 90's. I was old enough but was too busy doing stupid things like getting married for the first time. Milsurps would have been a MUCH better investment.

Correct. $2500 for the SCAR, 1k for the scope, etc. Its his second SCAR. My point was if you want a SCAR, you have to pay for one, same for the M1D. Did your buddy handle the FN prior to purchase? Outside of Hk, FN is one of the only firearm manufacturers that I would consider.

Haha I asked him that very thing. I wanted to know if he was going to duct tape 2 trauma plates to his back to protect himself from 308 sniper fire.

$625 right now at CMP for a service grade SA M1 Garand. I paid more for mine, but it was a WW2 receiver and I could inspect it first.

Also you may be a bit spoiled by other milsurp prices.
