Nice revolvers, Jim. Here's one that was dug up at an oilfield, near Hondo Tx, by my Mom's uncle in the 50's. It was given to my Dad in the late sixties. When my Dad got it, it was a solid piece of rust, could tell that it looked like it was loaded. I worked on it a long time, finally got it where I could get it apart. Wish this one could talk, was fully loaded. Like to know how a fully loaded pistol ended up on the ground. Looks like it was converted to take rimfire cartridges. I messed up one shell getting the cylinder out, and drilled holes in the remaining and soaked the cylinder in WD 40, for about a week to neutralise the powder. He researched it and fouund it was a Remington 1858 Navy. Allen

That is an example of a very early conversion cylinder in an original Remington Navy revolver, both of these are worth a good deal of money even in the condition they are in. The cylinder looks like it is usable. That is a very nice find.

That is a great Remington. I have two reproductions that I have had for about 25 years. An Armi San Paolo and a Euroarms. I am using them right now for Cowboy Action Shooting.
Nice find, that one definitely has a story to tell. I wonder if the owner ended up on the ground next to it and is still buried someplace out there in that old oil field.
