I think keeping the email confirmation is a good idea, spammers really aren't fun to deal with, and they will come in droves if you don't have some kind of measure in place like that. Yes, you can now register. It is open to the easy registration right now and it is fast but we are taking some chances with SPAMMERS do so. But we will tighten it up a little down the line.
