dribs and drabs....the mosin comeback

Bought this 1940 Tula at a gun show in Upstate NY yesterday. I bought it because its the first laminated stock I've ever seen. The price wasnt bad...just $169.

Re: Lined out MO?

The rest of the rifle is pretty unremarkable. Its in a post war stock. The bolt as you see has a B stamped on it but other than that its a garden variety stock.

Lined out MO?

I bought this Tula recently and I finally got around to looking at it closer. It has the MO marks and second date marks but they are lined out...any ideas what happened? Did this 91/30 go to the Ministry and then get put back into service? I appreciate your thoughts.

Re: Crates full of bent bolt non-ex snipers??

He was asking $250. It wasnt a bad price in light of the present mosin climate. I just didnt want to take the chance on buying a bastardized mosin.

Re: Crates full of bent bolt non-ex snipers??

Thanks Lee. I was standing there staring into this crate thinking should I walk away or not. I would have kicked myself sideways if it turned out they were unique and I should have got one. So then they must have ground the bolts and re-stamped them at the factory. I wonder how many other 'matching'...

Crates full of bent bolt non-ex snipers??

I was at a gun show this weekend and there was a guy there with two crates full of bent bolt 91/30's that did NOT have the holes or the plugged holes a sniper or ex sniper. I asked him what the 'story' was and he said that they were sent back for refurb and had the bent bolts added. The funny thing ...

Re: Hi! -- First Mosin

When youre sure its safe, take it out and shoot it. The first round goes off and you feel like youve been in a car wreck. The sound is distictive. Your shoulder will take a beating. They kick like they are mad at ya. You'll be hooked. I went through 80 rounds today along with 150 rounds in my SKS. T...

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!

Hey All! Got my first Mosin from GanderMountain. Bought it online and had it shipped to my local store. Took it out of the box and it was a 1929 Izhevsk hex with the space under the rear sight which if Im not mistaken indicated exDragoon. Got so excited I ordered another one. This time a 1942 Izhevs...
