Re: 1943r 91/30 barrel shank Marking HELP!
It's a 100% reproduction sir. That's not to say it couldn't be a good shooter, just that it never was a sniper rifle.

From what I see (only 2 bad pics) I say it's a reproduction

Re: Authentication Request
The rifle is a sniper with its original scope number scrubbed. The scope is legit, the mount looks like it might be a post war replacement, but I won't rule out a good quality reproduction. The bolt looks terrible, appears to either a sloppy repair, or a reproduction. That said I can't say with cert...

Re: what kind of scope would have been on 1939 Tula cn
Got this 39 Tula refurb with the cn marking but shows no evidence of being drilled, inside or out. I'm curious what kind of scope would have been on this had it been scoped, a PE or PU? Thanks How many numbers are in the s/n? If it is a 4 digit serial number it is an accuracy rifle not a sniper rif...

When the "Worst " is still collectable
Being a collector of anything it isn't often that you try to aquire the worst of what you are collecting, but this might be the exception to the rule. Earlier this week I had the opportunity to aquire what one firearms expert calls "The Worst Sniper Rifle ever made". Now being as I collect...

^^^
+1, Darryl pretty much cover it, now you need to do some reading, set a realistic budget, and don't jump on " bargins" as 99% of them are not legit.

Re: Sniper bolt question
The star just means the part came from the Tula plant, it has nothing to do with it being a sniper bolt part.

Re: Mosin’s of the Kossuth Crest
The 3rd one in my collection was a recent acquisition and by far is the most interesting. It is also a 43 Izhevsk PU sniper in a Hungarian PU sniper stock with a Russian hand guard. The butt plate, bolt are Hungarian sniper parts (BC prefix) and the mount is Hungarian with w Russian PU scope. 202301...

Re: Mosin’s of the Kossuth Crest
The next one was my 1st one to join the collection and is an all-original Russian matching 1943 Izhevsk PU sniper with a replacement scope. This rifle also isn’t import marked, unlike the M44. 20230121_141833_resized (2).jpg 20230121_141806_resized (2).jpg 20230121_142122_resized (2).jpg 20230121_14...

Mosin’s of the Kossuth Crest
When I started seriously collecting many moons ago I instantly gravitated to Mosins because they were plentiful, came in more flavors than Baskin Robbins, and where, for the most part, cheap. I eventually took a liking to PU snipers, and really like the Hungarian PU’s for there, imho, superior fit &...
