PAL RH 35 rehandle
I found a really nice RH 35 WWII Mk 1 Navy knife on ebay dirt cheap because it was missing the handle. The leather was easy to find, and in fact, next time I will just cut my own handle discs, the spacers are another issue entirely. I ended up going to the dollar store searching for something cheap ...

Thanks for the effort. I was beginning to suffer from RMNF withdrawal. It is funny how, over time, you can begin to identify with a virtural meeting place.

Remind me before we meet up and I will drop a pair of WWII binoculars on you. I still owe you for a knife. You will need to remind me because I have a bad dose of crs.

All American family portrait
Working on the '03 today and decided to raid the toy box and take some pics. Now all I need is a Nazi to shoot at; if push comes to shove an Illinois Nazi will do, I hate an Illinois Nazi. ;)

I cussed out John Garand today, bigtime.
I have decided to shoot that new IH Garand, but after reading all of the dire warnings, I wanted to field strip the piece to make sure it had the proper lubrication in the proper spots. First time, but no problem for an old gunner like yours truely. I grabbed my faithful J.B. Wood Firearm assembly/d...

Re: new rifle
They probably did zero preparation on the wood before buggering it up. That will make the spray paint come off easier. Don't take sandpaper or steel wool to anything. Try mineral spirits on the wood first, it is less agressive than paint thinner. If you have to go with paint thinner on the wood, do ...

Re: Latest Mosin Pick up
You got that for about 25% of its current market value. It is a nice collectible firearm. Congrats!
If it were mine, I would at least clean off the surface rust with oil and a paper towel. It is worth preserving.

Re: Repairing a 91/30 - Family Heirloom
If it is a family heirloom, hang it on the wall as it is. I do not know anyone who has rebarrelled a 91/30 so I can offer no help.

Re: Back to buying...I can't help myself...
I picked the rifle up today. A Remington '03. As presented by the seller it looked terrible, surface rust, a bore that was full of crud. I told him I couldn't go $500.00 in the condition it was in. We settled of $420. When I got home I stripped it down completely and I don't think that it had been ...

Re: Back to buying...I can't help myself...
Being lazy cost him 80 bucks and saved you hundreds!!! That's a great score, and a damn great price too!!! Thank you, I have wanted a wartime 03 for a long time, but was never willing to shell out for one. That said, I will strike while the iron is hot, and the iron was smoking on this one. It has ...

Re: Today's Gun Show Haul (Eddystone & Zastava)
Mike, I was checking parts on my new 03 today, and everything was Remington marked except the rear stamped barrel band. I was getting pouty about that until I did a search online. It turns out that the U was indicating which end of the band went up...;)

Re: Yugo Zastava M70
Do you pull the trigger guard down to field strip it? No, the trigger guard is part of the frame. Four or five years ago, there was a mass market dump on those pieces. They were going dirt cheap. I bought three of them, gave one to my son and kept two. One of the two that I kept is marked M70-1, bu...

Re: Today's Gun Show Haul
The Eddystone is very nice, Mike. Congrats on that one. I have a couple of the Zastavas, they are fun little pistols. Been looking it over a little and all the parts I looked at so far are marked with a E. Haven't messed with the Zastava yet. Got another kindney stone taking a journey through the s...
