Re: T53 on Gun Broker's

There is a whole pot load of T53's currently on auction on Gun Broker. Looks like someone had a shipment come in.

Re: The "Realistic" Top 5 List

In a frenzy of collecting excess, I've got my top 5.

1. M1 Garand
2. Mosin-Nagant 91/30
3. 1903A3 Springfield
4. Mauser Kar98k
5. M1 Carbine

Next on the list that I have to work up to are:

1. Mosin-Nagant 91/30 Sniper (probably PU)
2. Mosin-Nagant M44
3. Mauser Gew-41 or 43
4. 1903A4 Springfield

1848 Percussion Springfield Musket

My grandfather obtained, from who knows whom and where, an 1848 percussion Springfield musket. It is from the last run for the 1848 model Springfields as it is fitted with a percussion nipple. I wouldn't even dare try to fire it, and I suspect the percussion nipple is clogged or damaged. What I woul...

Re: Finland Defeats Russia

God played a cruel joke on both the Finns and the Scots. Just look at who he gave them as neighbors!

Re: You never know what you will find, must keep looking.

Going back to the rust question, I looked again at both the WD40 site for a description of it's properties and capabilites, and then on Wikipedia to see what they had. The company that produces WD40 states and is restated by Wikipedia that: The long-term active ingredient is a non-volatile, viscous ...

Re: You never know what you will find, must keep looking.

Would WD40 help with stopping the rust?

Re: Reproduction charger clips from KeepShooting.com ?

Question for those of you who have used the newer Mosin stripper clips. I have not had a problem with them. Do you try to load using only thumb pressure, like you would a Mauser or Springfield stripper clip? Or do you grasp the top round with thumb and forefingers and press down on the rest of the r...

Re: Full Auto SVT

The AVT-40 was the SVT-40 with full auto capability. Why do you think the AVT-40 went out of production after about a year? Because it could not be controlled in full auto, it was more likely to jam, you couldn't keep it fed, t wore out quicker. Same reasons that the M14 was not effective as a squad...

Re: Question on SVT 40

I agree on the pricing. In the U.S. I've seen SVT-40s priced from mid $800 to $1500. Depends on status and barrel.

Re: Is the lack of available ammo...

The only rifle in my collection that has an ammo supply problem seems to be my Mauser Kar98. 8mm Mauser isn't readily available in the stores. I can find it online though. I don't put more than a box or two through my rifles at any given time, so I don't mind.

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!

I have always wanted to collect WWII long arms. And I started this January. I was picking up my first item, an H & R M1 Garand from Cabelas, and while waiting for the paperwork to go through, I saw that they had about 20 Mosin-Nagant 91/30s in the rack. I checked the prices, and then started bro...
