Re: Luxembourg FN-49 30-06

A desirable piece, both few in numbers and in a readily available caliber. The FN-49 actually was a 1930's product. Fabrique Nationale intuitively removed all blueprints, tooling and prototypes from the factory just before the Nazi invasion, and thankfully so. Had it been mass produced by the German...

Re: Another 1919 91/30

That was a great local pick-up. As the inventory of primary market M91/30 rifles dwindles, these types of finds become more difficult.

Re: 1954 As-issued Tula

Yes, there are a lot of '54 Tula SKS carbines, in comparison to other years. It is also the one which is most commonly found as original matching/unissued condition.

Re: 1954 As-issued Tula

Sold a few of these non-refurb 1954 dated guns for a local FFL in 2014. They ranged from $950 - $1,200.

You found a deal!

Re: Mosin-Nagant In Vietnam

The Mosin Nagant rifles most commonly found as bringbacks would be the Chinese T53, the same basic design as the Soviet M44. Most, if not all, of the 1960 dated carbines were sold or given as aid from China to Vietnam. Other year T53 carbines can also be found with capture documents. There are also ...

'Somebody out there should be happy they were dealing with this guy :D Last I checked, Nikki was rather cute, and definitely not a guy! :D And the production vs attrition, leading to low supply and high demand, is spot on. Here are some pics of a bolt matching example. Stock and mag are mismatched....

Tough variation to find. Non-matching is somewhat usual. Looks to be in great condition.

Re: 1918 Izhevsk Dragoon

There is such a scarcity of any Mosin Nagant rifles from 1918 that any condition will do, even in battlefield relic state! It seems strange that the stock and metal condition would not be consistent, if they were an original pairing. It could just be poor storage? But it honestly looks like it could...

Re: Argentine M1891 Mauser, Spanish American War?

The second example has surfaced from the particular Argentine M91 serial number block of G 0-4999. It is in heavy patina, without crest, original matching, with rare early sight, missing cleaning rod and bolt striker, and also in my vault! :D I believe we can now safely confirm the report of the Spa...

Re: 1918 Remington Work Horse

The grinding on the forward chamber bell is a common theme among Finn, Balkan Region and SCW rifles. It allows for clearance on the rear leaf to drop to a lower setting. The F-stamp is unknown to me. Since yours is not import marked, it could rule out Finn or Balkan shipments of the 1990's. Most lik...

Re: 1918 Remington Work Horse

The rifles sent to Vladivostok included 1917 and 1918 Remington, and late-build New England Westinghouse. Therefore, not all of the 100K 1918 Remington rifles which were built were included in that shipment to NE Asia. A healthy number of the thirty or so recorded 1918 Remington rifle examples show ...

Just a typical hex receiver for $200 is difficult to land these days. A 1919 is icing on the cake. Good show!

That gonne looks like a typical European design from the 15-16th Century era. It was retrofitted with the cap nipples.

Impossible to tell in every case. But most up to the early 1920's are acquired. Most mid-1920's and later are captured.

This would originally have had the tall blade (Panshin style) front sight. Very early M91/30 without the pinned rear sight base. Excellent find.

1903 Dragoon

We don't often get to see these Imperial Era M91 Dragoons rifles. In fact, I can find only one other example from 1903. Most have succumbed to attrition and/or conversion by the Soviets to M91/30 specs. Those which have survived in dragoon configuration will usually exhibit Finnish, Spanish Civil Wa...
