Re: Naming Your Mosins
I named mine "Elka" cause she's big enough to take an elk, and "Elephantina" would just be silly.

Another 91/30 Present
I love the Mosin Nagant and have been sharing the love. I gave one to each of my bosses, the latest being a sweet 1940 Izhevsk. I really enjoy seeing the look on their face when they get it.
I need to keep another for myself one of these days.

Just paid $149 for another one...
Mosins have been scarce in Georgia. I Was on the road and stopped at the Cabela's in Hammond Indiana. They had some for $149. It is higher than ive paid but thwy had a beautiful 1938 Tula that was worth the extra cash.
The guy before me got a 1932 hex for the same price. Lucky!

I may of answered this but the list changes anyway.

m1/m2 .30 carbine: I changed my mind about this gun.
When I first showed an interest in guns my boss gave me 2 cartridges and said to get the guns that shoot them and I'd be set. One was a .30-30 and one a .30 carbine. He said I could find M1s at gun shows for $100-150 and would be a good start. We'll, he must have bought his last one in high school b...

Mossberg 500 Tactical conversions
I have the Maverick 88 not the Mossberg 500 but I bought an 18" barrel to go with the 28" field barrel it came with. I added a Phoenix stock from Cheaper Than Dirt (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SHT267-1.html) and I'm good to go. The 18" for HD and bear protection when I go to Alaska...

Cleaning Party for 3 New Mosin Nagants
Yes, we separated wood from metal & cleaned separately. We oiled wood & metal before mating them. One had the blueing worn off around the bolt and had been painted. The spirits was removing the paint so I took it all off. I figured we'd be able to keep the metal rust free since it will be a ...

Cleaning Party for 3 New Mosin Nagants
I bought a 1939 Izhevsk last year and a buddy and his son loved it so I bought him a 1943 Iz for his birthday last month. He was really tickled. When I saw how happy it made him I bought 2 more for my 2 bosses last week. Tonight my buddy & I took 3 of them (one boss already cleaned his) and had ...

12 Step Program for Mosin Owners
The Mosin Nagant seems to be very addictive so I have developed a 12 Step program for us:
Step 1: buy 12 Mosin Nagants
Step 2: repeat until you are satisfied.

I got the 1934 Izhevsk
We are crazy, imho. I patiently waited for all the pictures to load and looked at each one carefully. Why? It is essentially the same as the 1939 Iz 3 feet from me. And you know what? As soon as I press send I'll check another thread and read about more purchases and look for more pictures. What is ...

Potential Sinner Sees The Light
Im a big history buff and really like the Mosin Nagant. I originally bought it for the price but really really love it now. They are so cheap I thought I might get a second one and convert it to a scout rifle. I have learned my lesson and am embarrassed I even thought that. Now when I see a bubbafie...
