Re: Picked up a new M44 yesterday for $200 :)

any idea what it's worth in todays market? I would say $300-$400, but don't go cleaning on the stock too much or it will be $100. Yeah well I already stripped all the old finish off so I can refinish it..it was kind of sticky hahahaha just kidding I wouldn't do that.. I did take a cotton cloth damp...

Re: Picked up a new M44 yesterday for $200 :)

You got a really good buy. Congrats. I have one very similar rifle ('45)with no refurb marks. Same wear, the only thing on mine that matches is the butt-plate. Who knows, it may have worn parts swapped in the capital of the Thousand Year Reich. Lol same here the only thing that matches is the buttp...

Picked up a new M44 yesterday for $200 :)

Shoulder still hurts, couldn't be happier though.. I would really like to clean up the stock it seems kind of dirty/a little sticky in some areas like maybe there's still a light coat of cosmo on it..or maybe it's just the finish I can't really tell..

oh I'm not bashing the cartridge at all. I'd just rather not spend almost $600 on a .38 spl revolver when I can get one much cheaper.

Re: New member, new Mosin.

I almost bought an AMC Ambassador for $1000. It needed some TLC but the body was straight and everything, it didn't run because it had been sitting for 20 years.. I always regret not buying it, hell it might be sitting in that old mans yard still.

Re: M39 with wartime stock & postwar butt reinforcement??

Do you think the barrel was issued? If it was then maybe they just put a new stock on it because the old was was too damaged. I'm thinking maybe the stock fingers aren't as accurate because I've had people call m91's with round finger splices post-war. There are post-war refurbs where they kept the ...

Re: Throwback Thursday! OH how times have changed.

I agree.. It's ridiculous. I just got into milsurp collecting as did probably thousands of other mid-twenty something year olds in the past year. I do wish I would have started earlier. My first rifle I bought when I was 19 or 20 was a Bulgarian AK-74 for $300.. And at that time I had a chance to pu...

Re: Throwback Thursday! OH how times have changed.

slowdown on imports and a lot of it is deliberately to drive the prices up. Obama scared the doo-doo out of all the god fearin' 'Muricans but I have high hopes that some things at least will get back or near to normal. This happens during every election, except our constantly inflating economy make...

But Cossacks and Dragoons are M91's.. Are you saying that it's an M91 infantry rifle? It does have early Tula barrel bands, and I don't think Tula made Dragoons or Cossacks til the 30's. Correct?

Re: Throwback Thursday! OH how times have changed.

I have 3 cases of that Czech silver tip I payed that amount for way back then. Maybe 6 tins of Bulgarian (440 rounds per tin) I paid around $30 a tin for. I've got all the 7.62 ammo I need for the rest of my life. That's what they say..."buy low, sell (or shoot) high". What you are paying...

I have the same 1 on my 1891 dated M91 Tula. It is a Finned rifle. I also do not know where the 1 came from or what it means. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170428/bb13a41773a8fcf8d8f871dfa177a373.jpg Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I'm guessing that it was the Finnish that put the "1&quo...
