Berlin Police marked Kar98A

Picked this one up a couple months back. It is a mostly matching 1918 dated Kar98A carbine. The bolt has been blued and there is a 1920 date on reicever both of which indicate Weimar ownership/rework. The top of the buttplate is marked "SB" which is a Berlin police department marking.

Fake. There are a few legit Nazi marked 91/30s out there but not this one.

Re: Swiss 1896/11 vs. K1911

Id go with a 1911 rifle myself. In my experience the 1911 family including the K11 and 96/11 seem to be smoother than the later K31

Re: Martini Henry?

If I were you Id save money and get a real british MKIV from IMA. They occassionally have sales and the MKIVs tend to be in the best condition.

Re: Gew98M

These are pretty cool and you don't see too many of them. Not particularly rare but very interesting history.  I've got one sort of like it, but is a dual date. Quite the history between WW1, the Weimar period and WWII. They also seem to bring less than a more common WW2 98k

Gew98M

Picked this one up recently. It started life as a DWM Gew98, and was retained during the Weimar era hence the 1920 date. All parts are numbered to the reciever with many being lined out to match, the rifle was updated to the later tangent sight that is marked S/42 and the rear of the barrel is marke...

Re: 1888 Spandau 71/84 Mauser

A beautiful rifle. I think with the Commission 88s coming out these rifles likely saw very little use. Only time Ive heard of the 71/84s saw combat was by German sailors during the Boxer Rebellion. A lot of the M71s and M71/84s were also used to good effect in the German colonies, even during WWI. ...
