help with m1 carbine rear sight needed
Dusted off my Standard carbine today and took her to the range. I shot a few groups at 50 yds but soon discovered my later shots were printing higher than the first. Its a standard rearsenaled m1 with the bayo lug and windage adjustable rear sight. I put the sight back to 100, fired, and found that ...

Re: Two rounds fired at once
Brought my Russkie out for the first time months ago and it was doing the same thing. When I took it home I saw the firing pin was stuck in the forward position. I tore it down and the pin was lodged in the hole, I had to get a small punch and eventually a small drill bit (as the punch was not long ...

Re: How many times do you shoot a year?
2-3 times a week. Either in the desert plinking or running drills or run-n-guns with AK or AR and a sidearm; at the outdoor range zeroing a new rifle or optic and shooting some handgun, or wandering around on some state land blasting critters.

Problem with first SKS
Picked up my first SKS the other day. A pretty '51 Tula refurb. Was looking for a Russian and once came along in a private sell and feel I got it for a good price. Took it home, cleaned the dust and accumulated grime off it, scrubbed the bore and found a mirror underneath so all looked good. Finally...

Re: Surplus Nagant ammo
You can try J&G also. I drove up to their retail store a couple weeks ago. My buddy left with a 91/30 and Nagant revolver and they had a bunch of the surplus 7.62nagant 14rd boxes for $4.90

Re: Help me with Arisaka dates
Have used that link. There's some ambiguity and confusion on my part. What dictates series numbers. For example, it shows Toyo Kogyo running from '39-'45 and starting at series 30. Where do they come up with the series numbers and why wouldn't it start at 1?

Help me with Arisaka dates
So my friend and I have each picked up Type 99s in the last few weeks. Could any of the more knowledgeable folks on here provide an estimate of manufacture dates? Mine is a Nagoya series 1, serial no. 82,xxx and his is a Toyo Kogyo series 30 with serial no. 47,xxx Thanks

fruit
ask the produce manager what they do with the old produce and you may be able to score the fruit they're going to throw out. Leaves a lot of options with fruit of varying size and colors. And it's biodegradable so you don't really have to clean it up.

The supply guy that has to open the spam cans. Can you imagine? Just opened one with the designed opener and had forgotten how tedious it can be.

Re: Proper Cleaning?
It all depends on the climate you're in. If its Louisiana and feels like somebody's mouth you should clean ASAP. I live in Phoenix and sometimes I may not get to clean until the next day, but the dry climate here is much more forgiving

What to look for in Lee-Enfield No4 Mk1?
Saw a couple at a gun shop this morning. One was $229 but the stock seemed to move a bit, another was $139 and besides being a bit ugly I can't really tell what, if anything, is wrong with it. What should I look for with one of these? The bore wasnt immaculate but certainly wasnt the worst I've ever...

$70 Turk Mauser
Picked up a 1939 dated M38 Turk Mauser from a private seller today. Took it home and it was a bit of a mess. Took a while to disassemble it and there was a good amount of rust on the barrel under the stock as well as the receiver and magazine. Looked like there was still some cosmoline on the bolt a...

Got a call back with a "proceed" about 40 minutes later but by then I was 20 miles away heading the opposite direction. I'll pick it up tonight and try to get some pics up soon

Re: couple of mosins at pawn shop
So just went back and decided on the m44. Mostly because I already have a '43 Izhevsk M38, albeit with a standard stock. I like that its Romanian and something a little different. Agreed on $160 OTD... But I got delayed, so I put down 20% to keep it on layaway and will grab it in a few days

Forgot to mention, the 38 has a recoil pad in place of butt plate, the biggest turn off to me

couple of mosins at pawn shop
Just walked out. Inside was a '54 Romanian M44 for $179 and a '43 Izhevsk M38 with laminated stock for 149. Neither really spoke to me, so what kind of deal if any are these?

How much do you shoot at one time?
Just curious what your shooting habits are like. Typically I bring 4-5 weapons with me and go through 80-150 rounds of each. Very rare that I put a lot of rounds through any one gun in a single session. Also, a bit quirky... But I don't like loading mags in advance. Sure, I can come with 5 or 6 full...

Re: no more brownbear for me
When I can find m193 5.56 for cheap I will shoot that, but otherwise I usually just run the Tula .223 I get at Wal-Mart for $5 a box. Doesn't seem to be extremely dirty and have yet to have any malfunctions with it. After a shooting session I just wipe excess carbon from the bolt carrier group and i...

Re: BUIS AR15 question
i would think as long as the front sight can be elevation-adjusted you should be able to zero flip-ups from different manufacturers. I have a fixed front sight and the previous owner had attached a magpul rear sight. I'm sure it would have been fine with any make so long as i adjusted it.
