Re: How do you open the spam ammo can?
Flathead screwdriver and a hammer did the trick when I opened the last can. Then 3 hrs later I met with the guy I bought it from to get some 8mm Mauser and he says "did u open that can yet? Here's the can opener for it."

Re: What turned you on to these rifles?
History and affordability. The price is right, the history was rich, and I had heard the rifle was a blast to shoot.

Romanian M44.. thoughts?
Found a '55 Romanian M44 with 230 rds for $175. I'm very tempted but bought an AK underfolder last week and told myself I'd wait a while before getting any more weapons. Is this a great deal I can't pass up or just average?

Re: First shots with my first Mosin!
congrats on your first mosin!. I had seen them in Big 5 ads for a couple years and decided on a whim one night I was going to get one. Got my 91/30 at a local gun shop for $120, and I definitely regret it-- I love that rifle! Now every time I see some I just have to look and find myself moments away...

Where to get cleaning rod?
Took Oksana ('43 Izhevsk M38) out yesterday and somewhere along the way I lost her cleaning rod. I checked buymilsurp but they're out. Any other good sources for M38 cleaning rod? Thanks

Re: 46 gr. Practice Ammo - Anyone have Experience
Where's a good place to buy some? Every tuesday my buddies and I go desert shooting and usually bring some ladies along. Interestingly they love the classic bolt guns (one said her favorite was my M38, go figure) but needless to say they start bitching about their shoulders before too long.

My RC 98k
Just because. Picked her up a couple months ago. Nothing special, but she's mine. Not a serious collector, just a firearms enthusiast and WWII history junkie.

Re: My new M38, question...
No, definitely no SA stamp. I wanted the rifle regardless but that was the first thing I looked for when it was in my hands.Junk Yard Dog wrote:I can't see the markings clear enough to tell if it has the SA stamp or not.

Re: My new M38, question...
Sorry guys, don't have a good camera. Ill try taking pics with my phone if I can get some good lighting. Another question: when I disassemble her the pin that holds the trigger in place tends to come out. Any fixes for this? Anywhere I can find this pin, if necessary? Its not a problem for shooting ...

My new M38, question...
Hey guys, new to the forum. Picked up my second Mosin the other day, a 1943 Izhevsk M38. I am far from a "collector" but enjoy firearms and history so naturally milsurps fit into the equation. My M38 has all matching stamped numbers except for buttplate, correct stock, nice furniture, grea...
