Re: 1934 Izhevsk "PM-86" 91/30 (showcase submission)

Found one more on another site: https://www.gunboards.com/threads/pm-86-mosin-nagant-91-30.1222233/#post-11064235 This one falls outside of the 1934 Izhevsk batch of replacement depot Barreled actions commonly encountered. There has to be more of these PM-86 depot built rifles out there. If you have...

Re: 1941 Tula

Follow up… Okay, so I finally found a ‘41 Tula to complete my Mosin Nagant 91/30 collection 1930 to 1946. Per Long Colt 44’s request I am posting some of my collection. Most have multiple points of interest that may or may not be evident from photo. Various markings Include : SA USSR (Spanish Civil ...

Re: Mystery Remington 91

Yep! That’s exactly the same kind of marks. Thanks for the pic, I will add it to my reference file.

If anyone else has images, wisdom, or experience with a Remington or Westinghouse M91 with armory markings obliterated like this and or no serial number on the barrel shank please share.

Re: 1934 Izhevsk "PM-86" 91/30 (showcase submission)

I just purchased a PM-86 marked Mosin Nagant 91/30 rifle serial number 286. According to the data and wisdom I have collected online (represented in the links below). These rifles were assembled outside of the factory at depot #86 (Nerchinsk, Zabaikalskiy Military district?) from “spare” or replacem...

Re: Mystery Remington 91

Thanks Racerguy. It really helps me to know that there are others like it out there. Although I still have no real evidence, the mere existence of others like may indicate these rifles, barreled actions, and barrels may have been intentionally defaced by Remington or some other company who may have ...

Re: Mystery Remington 91

I saw an auction listing for “1917 REMINGTON M91 MOSIN NAGANT” with no further detailed description. None of the images were clear, but I could tell the metal finish (Except the rear sight leaf) appeared exceptionally good for a WW1 M91. I could also see the stock was wrong, it was from an early 91/...

Re: 1941 Tula

I have have been building my Mosin Nagant collection since the 1980’s. I have finally acquired an example of every year of manufacture and common variations of 91/30’s in both Tula and Izhevsk Arsenals except...the elusive 1941 Tula. I really want to complete my collection and I know these rifles ar...

Re: ALMOST scored 1930 Izhevsk...

Don't read too much into the small stamps on these, they are inspection stamps, often applied in a sloppy fashion, the Soviets did not mark rifles to individual army units. The rifles were all the property of the state, not the army. I like your interpretation better than mine...I understand the So...

ALMOST scored 1930 Izhevsk...

Went to shoot in the CMP D-Day Match at Talladega AL (If you have never shot there it is ABSOLUTELY FABLOUS! make an excuse to go and experience their fully automated range systems!) Anyway...I was shopping at Creedmoor where I found and purchased a 1930 Izhevsk. http://s1281.photobucket.com/user/br...

Re: Need help identifying M39 tang markings 1891 Sestroretsk arrow?

Happy to be here, and thanks for the information. Today someone told me my rifle is a Sestroryetsk made in 191?...(unknown). It seems by convention the first "1" is implied...followed by the "9" and then the arrow, followed by the final two digits indicating the year. I found an ...

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!

Greetings! I have visited here many times in the past and decided to join in order to learn more about my new Finnish M39. I bought my first M91/30 in the late 1980's, for $40.00. I purchased a few more through the 1990's but never really thought of myself as a Mosin Nagant "collector" unt...

Need help identifying M39 tang markings 1891 Sestroretsk arrow?

I just bought an M39 from Classic Firearms and took it apart in an attempt to identify the arsenal & original manufacturer date of the receiver. It appears to have an arrow pointing toward the muzzle with a “9” on the left side and a “1” on the right side and then “H3” stamped over top of it. Se...
