Re: PTG markings

Thanks Mike! Looks like your scrubbed one is also small based on the proximity of the scrub to the lettering but you are right is could go either way. Perhaps they used the smaller crest in the earlier years and the larger crest later... :vconfused:

Re: PTG markings

I guess I need to clarify why I am asking. In my OP the pic on the left is of the Imperial Tula Ordnance Factory. These were stamped this way from 1892-1912. But based on the lettering layout mine is not a 1912 from that run. The one in the middle is mine. It has a small crest also which more resemb...

Re: My first 91/30, need advices from experts.

I agree with Lee-online. You can see the porosity of the wood grain even in those distant shots. If it has been sanded and stained passed it up and get one that still has the orange-ish refurb shellac that JYD is talking about. Like JYD said, mosins of that year are very common so it would be to you...

Re: Pat Burns 91/30s?

My M39 came from Pat Burns. I paid the price she asked and was happy with what she sent.

Husker, you watched a price and when is went down it sold? I havent seen her drop prices in the short time I've been watching her site. Is that part of her process? Also, can you negotiate with her?

Re: PTG markings

Unfortunately Longcolt its the crest I was hoping to see. Your Balkin has the same font and layout as mine, but the scrub looks big enough to have been either of the crests. IMHO as I dont have it in my hand. The picture btw was very good so thats what Im basing my judgement on. Curious. Why are you...

PTG markings

Were there many different markings used on Tula's in 1912? Mine (in the center) is different from the other two examples I found of Tulas from the same time frame. Thanks!

Re: PTG M91/38 (Link Corrected)

I did a little hunting around and found the two symbols I highlighted in yellow.. They are said to be marks put on by the Czechs when they built your 91/38.

Re: My new Mosin!

These forums are mostly dedicated to the 'preservation' of the Mosin Nagants we own. Accessories such as muzzle breaks and non-original issue scopes arent really the thing here. And I hope Im coming across in a polite and friendly manner, its hard to get the feeling of a post sometimes, because that...
