Re: Paying too much !
Google 'online gun auctions' and you'll find a few sites. Watch to see what they SELL for, not what their starting price or buy now price is...that should get you in the ball park. From there you could expand your research to the gun shows and LGS in your area. With such a variety of years, models, ...

Re: nothing special 1942 91/30
I need to add a wartime example to my collection. Some folks give them a bad rap but I find nothing wrong with wartime examples. I envision them being assembled under duress as the Germans were marching. Now that's History. ...depends on what 'war' you mean, Russo-Japanese War, Russian Civil War, W...

Re: Hex vs round ?
If you are serious about collecting do your research and know what to spend your hard earned money on. There is a list somewhere on the ole interwebs that rates them by desirability. I try to steer clear of the ones with the highest production numbers and look for weird markings and different models...

Re: Numbers under barr
Here's a little tip from your Uncle Nick. When the guns are shipped have them held at the USPS, Fedex, or UPS shipping store or location. Pick them up and ditch the boxes on the way home. I thought I was pretty savvy sneaking them home and stashing the boxes in the garage. One day the misses counted...

The forum was updated recently and you can drag a pic and drop it where you type your post then scroll down and click 'place inline'. Its probably easier to email the pics to yourself and open your email on a desktop/laptop and drag and drop from there...

Re: Numbers under barr
You'll find lots of numbers under the barrels of most mosins. They are from the arsenal and got put there when they were manufactured or refurbished. We love pics here so post some and maybe someone will see something interesting and let you know. Welcome.

Romanian M44
Got a Romanian M44 to round out my M44 collection. Its a numbers matching '55. The action is smooth as butter and I cant wait to shoot it. This is the youngest mosin in my collection. There is a Yugoslavian arsenal marking on the stock. Bought it right. Happy day.

Re: SNOW!!!!
Snowblower? I see a shovel but I don't see a snowblower, what kind? What engine? Horsepower? Don't forget to treat the fuel and fog it at the end of the season or ethanol in the fuel will slag that carburetor. Its a Toro. Numbers matching. Still in its original patina. I dont see any import mark. I...

Re: SNOW!!!!
Brought the shovel out to show it what it was missing. Finally stopped buying mosins long enough to buy a snowblower last October. At 6am I cleared 8" from the walk and driveway. Got home looked like I never did anything. We got 18" from midnight to about 4pm today. Yeah buddy! 20160216_17...

1937 91/30 markings
Picked up this one at an auction. I know they are probably just arsenal markings but I was wondering if anyone has any input on the backward LB in the circle and the K in a box overstamped on the Izhevsk crest. I looked through all the research sites I know of an didnt see any pics of either mark. T...
