Re: Want to buy an M44, but...

Plenty refurb'ed matching M44s can be found. I would not buy a non matching refurb M44 To each his own, but you might be passing up a gem. There really isn't anything "gem" category when it comes to M44s. Trials, hex's, Tulas can be readily found in refurb matching state as there were ple...

Re: Want to buy an M44, but...

Nobody is arguing. You stated I might be missing out on a real gem. I was just trying to explain that there is really not much in the M44 variant that i personally see so rare that I must have it even mismatched rather than wait for refurb matched example. That is why not buying mismatched soviet re...

Re: 91/30 Finn Capture Non Refurb

The size of the bolt S/N looks suspicious. Way too big for Finn'ed gun. But the [SA] is in a spot where they have been seen before. I have a 1939 re-capture with SA in similar location

Re: 1946 Izhevsk M44: Unissued Condition.

Yes. You have to remember that Romanian, like Czech, Poland etc weren't part of the Soviet Union just one of the satellite states under the communist spell. While they all refurbished mosins, the satellite states each had their own unique way of doing it that different for the way it was done in USS...

Re: 1946 Izhevsk M44: Unissued Condition.

Stock has been sanded as the original buttstock marks have been mostly removed. Handguard has a crack in it that's been repaired with three dowels "cross stitches" which is very Romanian trait. The buttplate has been ground/sanded in the area of the old S/N and renumbered with matching SN ...

Re: VZ 24 Mauser Sniper

I have had 5 of these original IOR VZ-24 30mm mounts. Sold 3 earlier this year, kept the one "early pattern" and one "late pattern" to match my WWII period IOR and my post war IOR snipers. Also had leads on 2 IOR scopes. One was already sold unfortunately, the other once was inte...

100% refurb. But post war m44s are fairly low production

Re: Need some Remington advice from the experts...

$1,800 seems a bit high to me too, but I have seen them go for $1,500 on multiple occasions over the past few years. The seller is not off his rocker at $1,800, but he is going to have to wait for just the right buyer at that price. At $1,500 he would be able to move it much more quickly. That $2,0...

Re: Where are all these Finns coming from?

Oh I see all shenanigans on Gunboards. Vic only yanked my positing ability. I don't see much of desperate collectors selling on there. Lot of older collectors ( baby boomers) are reducing their collections due to their age... Can't take then with u once u kick the bucket. Vic made the comment he's 3...

Re: Where are all these Finns coming from?

I don't think stagnant economy has much to do with it. Price of these collectibles are up strongly year over year so there is broad support by people in general with disposable income Now older collectors are definitely getting squeezed right now thanks to the ridiculous Fed monetary policies that a...

Re: Need some Remington advice from the experts...

Seriously, davestuff bought a New England Westinghouse some time back on Gunbroker for 1000.00 that is described as being in the condition you mention here. Now is this Remington worth 1850.00? It can only depend on how bad you want it. If you want it bad enough, you can make more money. You can se...

Re: Need some Remington advice from the experts...

If it's true unissued US surcharged mosin, they are accustomed to reaching 2000-2500 on gunbroker. I got really lucky recently and picked one up for $585 So in other words the real selling price for one on GB is $585 while every now and then the insane bidding war types will run one up over two gra...

Re: GB auction - Rare Finnish SAT M91 Mosin Nagant

Almost every auction gets all the bidding done it the last few hours. They sometime sit all week with no bids until the last hours when everyone seems to throw a bid on it. I guess Sunday night we will all be watching and refreshing that page. When shipping a rare expensive rifle, what extra precau...

Who or what is RTI? The sniper CH samps are certainly fresher and reblued at some point, more than the other stampings on the barrel.
