Congrats. These don't show up often and a lot that do are rough. That's a nice one!

Re: 7.62x54r Light Load

Accuracy looks good. If you want to go lighter, I'd recommend some cast loads. I haven't personally loaded any 7.62x54r loads, but I have for other military surplus rifles with varying degrees of success. I find that it takes a little time to find the right load. I don't use the same powders as I do...

Re: K31 rate?

If it's matching and the finish hasn't been messed with, that's a good price for one right now.

Re: Finn M91

Very nice M91. The rifle was certainly in Austrian hands, but I don't know if it was ever converted for 8x50? I simply can't tell from the chamber pic and the sight base was never changed from Arshins to Schritt. There is only evidence that the Arshins were crossed out and metric numbers added to th...

Re: Austro-Hungarian M1891

All i can honestly see is the discoloration of the brazing material in the chamber end. I don't have it in front of me, but I don't remember seeing anything at the muzzle end, but mine was counter bored, which might be why? I don't have any other Austrian traits on mine. The gold paint in the Schrit...

Re: Enfield No1 MkV

Not sportered, but the rear sight was incorrect. I believe it had the cutoff, but it was a while ago. I believe everything numbered matched. He finally sold it on gunbroker. He was a dealer and it was part of an estate. I want to say qz2026 and I saw one at a guys house over a year ago, but he wante...

Re: Split Cases

It happens. I shot hundreds of rounds of Czech 80's surplus and one round did exactly as yours. I look over each round more closely now. Startles the hell out of you, that's for sure.

Very nice and great pics, capt! :Drool1:

I offered $600 for one once. A 24, I believe. Guy wouldn't go below $800. Maybe two years ago. He had it at multiple shows and I kept trying, but no dice.

Re: 1907 carbines

Beautiful! Ran into one at a show up here, but the guy wasn't looking to sell. Stock was dried out and cracked badly in multiple areas, but it was still cool to check one out up close.

Congrats!

Re: Austro-Hungarian M1891

First of all, my memory is going. It wasn't my Sestroryetsk, but my Chatellerault. http://www.russian-mosin-nagant-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=21841 You mean the Austrian Schritt numbers on the sight base? Crossed out by the Finn's. Another example. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/rearsightAustrian.JPG He...

Good luck in your hunt to gather more information from the vets family. The box and bring back papers are really nice to have.

Re: Austro-Hungarian M1891

I think JPS has the only one I've ever seen. The ones converted back to 7.62x54r by the Finn's pop up from time to time. I have a Sestroryetsk with an Austrian rear sight base.
