Re: WWII mosin production video- questions

I actually find it more awkward to pull straight back on that bully of a cocking piece than to actually just exert the extra force to operate the bolt in the usual fashion.

Re: Cleaning mosins like they used too...

This is actually a super common myth. Just look up "pissing down Mosin bore" and you'll see many people saying that the Soviets cleaned them this way. I can't believe somebody actually did it, but I guess it was inevitable given how many times this "they pissed down the bore" cra...

Finnally found a M44

After a year of searching, I finally got my hands on an M44. Typical Soviet refurbed 1944 Izhevsk. The rifle itself seems to have been refurbished at the 7th GRAU arsenal in Latvia, and the stock was refurbed at the 1st GRAU arsenal in the Ukraine. Unfortunately, bubba has also done some refurbishin...

Re: 1939 Izhevsk 91/30

You've got a nice M1891-30 there. According to the info at MosinNagant.net that is based on info taken from Karl Heinz Wrobel, there were 636,244 M1891-30 rifles made at Izhevsk in 1939. Contrasted with 760,423 manufactured at Tula in the same year. 1939 is a relatively high production year for Izhe...

39 Izhevsk? Yeah... I got one. A nice one with a cool [SA] stamp. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i304/rongoman/Mine%202/01-6.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i304/rongoman/Mine%202/01book.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i304/rongoman/Mine%202/001forum.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/al...

Are you sure ? The rifle already has an import mark and this ENGLAND stamp is not in the same font.

Lithgow No 1 Mk 3* Quick question

I have a question regarding this Lithgow Lee Enfield rifle.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1413320673.100640.jpg
What is the meaning off this ENGLAND stamp on the receiver ? Did this Australian manufactured rifle end up in England ?

Re: SKS gas tube is stuck

Here are some pictures that might help. The cam works. Like I said, the tube is very loose. Like it wants to come off, but its like it catches at the last minute. Very frustrating. Re: My mosin collection keeps growing! Plus range report

Excellent looking rifles, and amazing shooting. Enjoyed your write up about them. I have yet to find a Mosin carbine of any kind. Not in my 3 sporting goods stores or the two Cabelas that I visit. I'm still on the hunt for one. Lol

Re: Regarding the MO marking.

No, I suspect he was working with old information that for whatever reason a clear provenance couldn't be provided for. In other words a theory based on speculation and information obtained from unproven sources. If someone can prove with documented evidence exactly what the MO stamp means you can ...

Re: On the subject of restamping serials...

Of course they do, part of the refurb process is to remove the parts from every rifle coming in, dump them all into piles for large batch derusting and rebluing, then grab whatever one comes to hand when putting rifles back together again. The entire refurbished rifle ends up a collection of parts ...

Re: On the subject of restamping serials...

Quite frankly I even wonder how a flat steel buttplate could wear out enough to be replaced anyway. Seems like virtually all of these refurbs have arsenal matched butt plates.

Re: Regarding the MO marking.

There is more crap around regarding what MO means than I can remember, none of it backed with documentation, or as you pointed out, quotable sources within Russia who have documentation. I ignore it all and wait for the day when real information is available, until then I go with my own theory that...

Re: On the subject of restamping serials...

Good question, perhaps if they were re using an older butt plate or floor plate that belonged to another rifle they simply lined out the old number and re stamped the new one ? Maybe the ones that aren't lined out were given newly manufactured floor and butt plates ? I have no idea. That's just my ...

Regarding the MO marking.

On 7.62x54r.net it says this about the MO markings. "Based on information from sources in the former Soviet Union the MO marked firearms were used by the Defense Ministry Militarized Security force, or "Voenizirovannaya Ohrana MO", abbreviated VOHR MO. Those are not per se troops, but...

Re: MY FIRST MOSIN, anything unusual?

That is a beautiful looking Mosin, and as luck would have it, it happens to be one of the more unique variants of the refurbished M1891-30 rifles. With the Triangle 25 and red highlighted serial number. Nobody is sure why exactly the serial numbers were highlighted but it's fairly certain that the t...

Re: Well, this is interesting...DDR mark now debunked?

I want to know why a rifle would have a stock refurbished in the 1st GRAU arsenal in Ukraine while the rifle itself was refurbished in the 7th GRAU Arsenal in Latvia. Did certain arsenals refurbish certain parts ? Seems like the 1st GRAU Arsenal mainly refurbished stocks while the 7th mainly refurbi...
