Re: SKS gas tube is stuck
Oh yes, I disassemble and reassemble it constantly. It's usually no problem but for whatever reason, now the gas tube is stuck.

SKS gas tube is stuck
I was teaching a friend about re assembling the SKS. I had mine already disassembled and was demonstrating how to put the gas tube back in place and I snapped it back in position and now for whatever reason, it's stuck. It's loose and wobbles around, but it simply refuses to come out. I see absolute...

Re: 1943 Tula PU Sniper
That stock could very well be "Late War" pattern. Judging from the shellac condition and what appears to be some old, deep scratches below the rear sight. I know almost nothing about the sniper rifles, but just because it has pressed in escutcheons doesn't mean it's exclusively post war ma...

Re: NEWBIE QUESTIONS
Yes, most M1891'30 rifles are in fact factory refurbished, but they have plenty of history behind them and don't let anyone tell you differently. Most of the M1 Garands we have now are factory refurbished made from mixed parts and nobody would dare say an M1 Garand isn't collectible or historically ...

I don't have permission to look at the picture and don't particularily want to join another forum.
Thanks.

Simply an amazing find ! I absolutely love it when things like this come to light. Now if only we can have some documentation on the meaning of the MO marked rifles.

Re: new member 1937 Mosin Nagant
Nice looking Mosin ! I really like the pics of all of the stampings underneath the stock. Looks like your rifle has an encircled (k) "Point of aim" proof mark and the circle within circle "Accuracy" proof mark on the right of the barrel shank. It also appears to have the "Pr...

Re: Nagant's original design.
We call the 1903 Springfield a Mauser action because of it's action being copied from the Mauser. Is the Mosin a "Lebel" action completely copied from the French or is the bolt itself an original design ? Sorry if this is a horribly stupid question, I'm not familiar at all with French rifl...

Nagant's original design.
The Mosin Nagant rifle was a conglomeration of two rifle designs. One "3 line" rifle design put forward by Sergei Ivanovich Mosin and one "3.5 line" rifle put forward by Leon Nagant. Apparently Mosin's rifle was chosen with the addition of the feeding system from Nagant's rifle. ...

Hi, I am new. I have a Hex with no dates. How old could this Mosin be? There is an area on the bolt where it looks like someone tried to hide some markings by covering them up. Very interesting indeed. The Mosins without dates are few and far between it seems, and I'm sure someone here will know mo...

Re: Type 38 Japanese Arisaka Long Rifle
Two things here I think. Common problem is a burr on the extractor claw. These rifles seem to have that problem quite a bit. Rounds need to be loaded into the magazine also. Otherwise the claw does not function properly. Do not load one round at a time by hand. Bullet size and shape. If you had the...

Re: Type 38 Japanese Arisaka Long Rifle
What ammo or brand of were you using? Never heard of a rifle key holing at only 15 yards. Head Space can be checked with gages. I was using essentially the only commercially available 6.5 Jap you can acquire. The expensive Hornady stuff built with PPU brass. The rifle was keyholing and seized up af...

A quick primer on all matching Soviet mosin nagants
Excellent topic and write up. Here is a good example of an Arsenal Matched rifle. You will notice that the barrel serial number matches the serial number on the bolt body. However, upon much closer inspection you will notice that the two serial numbers are stamped in slightly different fonts. Namely...

Type 38 Japanese Arisaka Long Rifle
Nice rifle, many Type 38's were matched by assembly numbers and not the serial number, so if you bolt does not match the seriel number the rifle still may be matching. The assembly number is only visable if you remove the barreled action from the wood. Does that dust cover match, origina...
