Re: GERD / Acid Reflux

did you take your great results back to the Doctors who had said no...? I did, showed them the photo of the 4 parathyroids with adenomas on them and then told them they were both fired and found new doctors. We just relocated to Tennessee, so now I need to start that search all over again. Finding ...

Re: GERD / Acid Reflux

Holy shit, I'm fucked up, but compared to you I have no problems. I hope they get that shit straightened up quick  Never had this issue before, it started the first part of July and damn is it bad. At night I try to lay down, and if it starts, I go to the living and play games on the Xbox On...

Good looking rifles. The 1934 wouldn't be an m39 though.

Re: New Member! First Finnish Mosin! M28/30 question

Sorry to be piggy backing on this post, but I thought it might be relevant. I also have bought a M28/30, 3 weeks ago, and have been reading whether I can shoot surplus Russian thru it. I have a VKT M39 with a D stamp on the top of the receiver, which I have read was retro fitted for the 7.62x54R am...

Re: Reloading

N140 works pretty well for me across a wide range of bullets in the Mosins. I've also had very good success with H4895 and some others. Which bullet a particular rifle likes seems to vary but other than my Finn m28/76, I'm not too worried about optimal accuracy so will shoot what ever shoots reasona...

Re: 189? mosin

Maybe take a look here (https://russian-mosin-nagant-forum.com/app.php/page/99) and see if something looks familiar. Was the 189x on the barrel or on the tang of the receiver? The hammer and sickle would be a bit out of time on an Imperial era Mosin. I guess they could have come back around and stam...

Re: WZ-48: Great Looker, Terrible Shooter!

Try some different ammo with it. I went through about 10 different brands with drastically different results. Some match grade stuff would keyhole at 25 yards. Remington Thunderbolt on the other hand would produce fantastic groups even out to 50 yards. Everything else was somewhere between the two. ...

Do you mean which arsenal manufactured it? The arrow in triangle indicates it was Izhevsk.

Re: What powders are you using for reloading for Mosins

H4895 is generally my go-to powder for the Mosin. Works well in the carbines as well as the longer variants. I've also used 4064 and Varget with good success.

Re: Reloading for the Mosin Nagant

I think this depends on the rifle to some degree. I have one rifle that likes heavy bullets, so I worked up a load with Hornady's 174gr round nose (#3130) using Fed 210 primers, PPU brass and 42 grains of IMR 4895. This is a good load across most of my Mosins as well and is what my PU and m28//30 l...

What's the date on the receiver tang? Could be a later rebuild that used an older hex receiver..

Re: Polish m44 query

Thanks all for the comments. Out of interest what is the going rate for a Polish m44 in the states (unaltered). I paid £400.00 squids for this one, was that over the top ?. The problem in the UK is that stuff is not so readily available and sometimes you have to take whats out there. I think I will...

Couldn't agree more. I love the 7.62 Tokarev. You can tell it has a lot of oomph coming out of that barrel yet has such light recoil.

I thought I had read somewhere that they would take plugs from that area to address cracks in stocks etc. I could be wrong though.

Re: New film / WW1 "They Shall Not Grow Old"

You guy's make me feel bad about my opinions of the movie. While I did enjoy it, I was honestly a bit disappointed. I guess I was expecting something very different from what it was. If you look at it from the perspective of what Peter Jackson said it was ("A documentary from a non-historian fo...

Re: Which one to keep.. opinions please

m91, but I really love the m91. If you could manage to hold a second, the PU. For me that covers the m91/30 & PU category well enough. If you can squeek out a third, the wz.48 but only because I got a thing for Polish firearms right now and that one is a good economical way to go shooting.

Re: Deutsches Reich stamped 1905 Izhevsk M91 w/Original Stock

It is especially evident around the base of the rear sight with much blue remaining when compared with the rest of the action. Normal wear would not look like that at all. I would have never guessed that. I wonder if that was done in the stock. Surprised there wouldn't be scuff marks on the finish ...

Do you have some photos of the rest of the rifle? The Ka3 are certainly very uncommon and to see one converted into a 91/30 even more so. Very cool item to have in your collection!

Re: New film / WW1 "They Shall Not Grow Old"

I've been waiting for this movie to come out, it looks like it will be really good. My great-grandfather (the gentleman in my avatar photo) came to America from Poland (Russia at the time) in 1913 and then was sent over to France to fight in 1917. He was gassed in the battle of the Argonne forest, w...

Yup, like millman mentioned, they're pretty much on there permanently. I'm always super careful when I'm taking them on or off because breaking one winds up being pretty expensive. I broke 1 once. Once. So far anyway.
