Re: Gun show prices

Supply and Demand in this case is just gouging. It speaks to human nature, i.e., yet we'll just call it Supply and Demand... The only thing that I wish I had done was buy a box of hollow points.

Re: trying to identify a badly bodged Mosin Nagant.

I hate it when I hear people say "I'll fiddle". I see not one of the guns above that have anything near the issues the Mosin has. Unless you are an experienced gun smith, your fiddling could get you or someone else killed. Plug the chamber and fiddle to your heart's content - make it non s...

Re: Outing

This reminds me of a trip a made long ago to the St. John's River in pursuit of bass. For a Northerner, the alligators were a bit on the disconcerting side for me. Trolling down narrow cuts of water only to see monster alligators stacked up like cord wood within 10 feet was a bit scary. And I hooked...

Re: trying to identify a badly bodged Mosin Nagant.

Based on what I see, you are fortunate not to be able to chamber a round. There is really nothing that can be done for this rifle unless you wish to spend a ton of money. And, really, there is a possibility that the barrel was rechambered. Bottom line is that you would need to rebarrel this gun, rep...

I remember using a portable when I was in college. Yes, the days before PC's and word processing (do they still call it word processing anymore?) . Don't know what became of it though.. As I recall, I used to go through gallons of "white out"... :D

I had one of those and sold it. I can't remember what it sold for, but sold at a pretty good price. Should get close to $500. They are selling from $500-$800 depending on who is watching/bidding - newbie or non-newbie :)

Re: Can someone interpret this bit of government speak?

Always check the email address of the sender when you receive "official" correspondence. If you get these notifications on your phone, take them for what they are worth. For example USPS would never send such a message. These are the days of spam and phishing. I get one or two of these typ...

Re: Colt 38 Special Army

Reminds me of mine but not the grips LOL. This was my dad's from WWII. Sweet shooter and super smooth double action trigger. He was a radar operator on Eniwetok Atoll (later blown up with the atom bomb) so they evidently weren't issued 1911's. Your's sounds to be an older version.

Re: My Mosin PU

I tend to agree. The scope s/n should appear "x'd" out on the left side of the receiver - at least in most cases - for snipers manufactured at Izhevsk. Also the stock cut for the scope mount looks like a relatively new cut.

Re: Ammo panic; get some cheese, it is a whine

I stocked up a long time ago and even after selling a bunch, I have plenty left at least for the milsurps. What I am running a little short on, I load for but powder is an issue. For those who use Hodgdon, they told me that they will soon begin selling from their website. I am seeing this trend all ...

Re: parting with collection question

You'd be better off selling them one at a time and not in groups. I am assuming that you are considering an auction site. If so, list as many that you feel comfortable with. When I sold at auction, I listed 5 per week. That's about all I could handle with processing payments and shipping. If your co...
