Re: M91/30 PE, Percentage Correct or Importer Cobbled
Scope is a reproduction/Fake
Mount is a reproduction/Fake
Receiver is too rough and no scope numbers on the side of the barrel shank
Stock doesn't look "right" either
Reproduction.
And, they were PU snipers, not PE.

Hoping 2024 is a better year for me.

Scope looks real
Mont looks questionable. I lean toward reproduction.
Base looks like a re-production to me.

Re: Mosin Nagant91/30 PU
From what I got, they did a batch of rifles that they took more "time" on and then test fired them and picked what they wanted as snipers.

Re: Is this a real 1943 PU Scope??
Well, as you now can see, removing the paint was not a great idea. Parts were often "painted" instead of re-bluing a parts. Especially on a scope. It would be a very difficult just to "re-blue" a scope, so they just ..... painted them. Wish someone would have got to you sooner. O...

Re: Wondering How Real It Is
Gentlemen, it was imported by “CAI.” (Century Arms?). I’m not looking to lock horns with anyone here, but I actually felt very confident in the originality of the scope mount base because it had the kinds of machining marks I’d read that one should expect to see. I’m in no way imposing superior kno...

Re: Will Someone Direct Me to a Izhevsk Serial Number Registry?
I appreciate your answer but it begs the question, “How, then, does everybody in this forum constantly make reference to the numbers of weapons and “serial number ranges” by year?”, if we’ve no artifacts/records of any kind? It would seem to me, then, that the only thing we can know is what’s stamp...

Re: Wondering How Real It Is
Yeah, base looks "new" and doesn't match the rest of the rifle.
I'd vote for "re-sniper" also.
Who is the importer???

Yes, that "sits wrong" with me too.Miller Tyme wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 7:44 am Could be Darryl, but there is something about the lined out scope number look and font the just doesn't sit well with me. Need to pull my 42 and see if it is the same font.
Soon as I saw the mount, it's out the door for me!

You know, I don't do much (any) hunting for many years now but, when I was hunting, they counted the points on one side and that was the point count. Like above, it has 4 on each side would be a 4 pointer. I see these guys on TV calling the above a 8 pointers. What the Hell? What is correct now??? ...

Re: new rifle
Oh my Gxx! What would poses a person to do that to a M28-30!!!!! Well, work with what you got and work slowly. Try things on small areas of the stock that are not seen first. The metal will usually not be a problem removing the paint unless the idiots sanded it first. Like they said above ...... $8...
