Re: Gunbroker fraud turd alert.
That's O.K. You may be slow and confused, but you ask good questions! The bulk of wz29 rifles were scrubbed of their Polish marks and sent to Spain. They were used hard, rebuilt and sold to the US in the 1950s and 1960s with all the other SCW imports. In poor condition, they didn't fetch much money....

Re: Gunbroker fraud turd alert.
Here's what a decent example looks like. Built on tooling for the Kar98 which Poland confiscated from Germany following WWI. Early models were marked as K29, and later changed to wz29. Many were scrubbed of Polish markings and sent to the Spanish Civil War. It is a prize to find one which isn't scru...

Re: Gunbroker fraud turd alert.
Yeah, a rush job. You can still see remnants of the A, as well.
Also look at the relatively sharp lines of the receiver ring in the un-humped photo, and the rounded lines of the receiver ring after the scrubbing.
Serial numbers aren't clear enough for me to make any determination.

Re: Gunbroker fraud turd alert.
Wow. He scrubbed and reblued that receiver quickly!
Not such a great job of scrubbing, though. Still a little bit of the fake Polish Eagle's head showing.

I would have liked to have seen the topic continued. The entire collecting community can benefit from seeing this story through to the end, and a hopeful prosecution.

Re: Heavily used and abused 41 Izhevsk m38 non-import marked
I agree that a gun like this is far more likely to traveled through North Korea than Vietnam. But could it have seen both theaters? North Korea did supply aid to North Vietnam in a limited capacity.
Re: SKS
Most examples of the Russian SKS are found as original matching or refurbished to match. With the replaced top cover, yours will never be either. Original matching are $600 to $1,000-plus, with an average around $750-800. Refurb matching are $400 to $600, with an average around $450. Non-matching ar...

I'm sure that anyone would prefer a full mum, but this one can't be diminished otherwise. Great condition. Without the scrub, it would have been more than double the price.

Re: Japanese Type 30 (?) Carbine
It is a Type-38 carbine. With the ground mum, it is more likely to be a surrendered weapon than a captured weapon. The Japanese soldier would not have scrubbed the Mum while it was still in service, and crests weren't ground until after surrender.

Re: 1953 Hungarian M52 sniper rifle
No real backstory on this one, a buddy of mine on Facebook pointed out the auction to me, it was listed on Gunbroker as a Romanian 91/30 sniper, and for some reason if flew under the radar. Had that one been properly listed, with even just a thumbnail pic, it could easily have been bid to $2,500-pl...

This is assuredly a stamped receiver. If it has the original stock, DON'T shoot it. It is susceptible to cracking.
You have found a rare variant. Congrats!

Re: What is the value of a Vietnam bring back?
Properly papered Chinese SKS bringbacks are in the $8-1,200 range. Just a few years ago, they were creeping near $1,500, but they have dropped off recently.

The antique Tula might not be rare, but the original matching steps it up a notch. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/grailTula_001.jpg http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/grailTula_002.jpg http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/grailTula_003.jpg http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/grailTu...

That surely is a Benicia Arsenal rebuild stamp!
First one I've seen. Hopefully we'll see yours soon, too.

Re: US Surcharged 1917 Remington Mosin
Wow. I have never seen a US rebuild cartouche on a Mosin Nagant before - plenty of marks on M1903, 03-A3, M1917, M1 Carbine, Garand , M1911, etc.
Surely would like to see a pic of this!
