Re: Finnish Lotta Bayonet & Leather Scabbard
Zeebill- The P with arrow is there - but it is tough to see. What makes an M24 bayonet is the notch carved into the lockring to allow the taller front sight of the Lotta rifle. You can see that in the pics as well. I'm no expert on the Finn scabbards, but with the source from which he got the bayone...

Re: 28/30 civilian modell
Yes. Yours is a Civilian Sales, or Civilian Purchase M28/30. This is a rare variant-congratulations!!! It has the correct stamps and is within the specified serial range designated for them. Unfortunately, someone has drilled and tapped the receiver for the scope (is that a Valmet scope?) and bent t...

Re: Saw something new on GB...
I was looking at this over on Gunbroker over the last week or so. I never saw something like this before... Does anyone know how many of these were made? I've never saw one of these let alone heard of it before last week. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=540792018 The auction end...

Re: 91 30 shank markings.
I believe the rifles having the sniper markings and not drilled for a base are referred to as, "accuracy rifles" in the collector community. It's a non-official designation, but may yield better results when searching the internet. I know some threads have been started on Gunboards about s...

Re: M28 with early m28-30 stock
I'm not following....Please explain how a 1940 stamped stock - the very last year of production of a rifle platform that followed M28 production - is considered an early stock? Thanks for the photo help!. I dont know a exact way to tell where it got restocked but I know the butt plate does not match...

Re: Had an M28 with Ski Trooper stock fall in my lap today
The number looks like its starts with a, "6" to me. Which puts it out of the accepted range of an original double slot M28 (though the accepted range has grown a little bit over the last year or two). The stock also appears to have been refinished. Maybe some additional pictures taken outd...

I've seen one marked 28 gauge. For some of the larger bores, I believe a Berdan barrel was repurposed.Miller Tyme wrote:I believe they where 410.bunkysdad wrote:The 52 Izhevsk is the one the I find most interesting.
