My prewar stocks do not have the slot, but my post war stocks do. Probably added later on in the stock making process. Sent from my iPhone 4S using Tapatalk Interesting---then the hardwood stock without the slot maybe a prewar stock with pressed in escutcheons ? Just checked all my stocks. Post-war...

my M44 came 1/2 hour ago. 1944 Izhevsk that has red shellac and is spotchy dark spots. as soon as i can figure how to resize pictures i will start a new thread on this 1943/1944 partial escutcheons on front and on butt stock. the bluing is perfect and no dings,dents or any other problemws like my MN...

i made my own to take mine to the range. i did not know they had to be in a case. took 15 minutes to sew 2 up and install snaps for closer. i redid the one as it was ruff and i wanted nice. i may buy a better one but i don't store in it. in wisconsin i just put the rifle/shotgun in my trunk. califor...

both post war and 1945 stocks have it (pressed in escutcheons) my 1943/1944 partial on front and butt have the slot. i just reassembled my 1938 last friday but did not notice if had the slot(screw type escutcheons) myM44 will be here today and i will check it as i have to totally tear down to remove...

i read on a forum where a guy emailed Tula to ask what were mosin nagant M91-30's stock finishes during the war? i can't find it again. does anyone know the answer? Tula said that red shellac was used during referishment and 1. ___ and 2. _____ was used prior to refurb process....

i am doing my part buying up some. :D bought 1 in march 1 in april 1M44 in july and 2 M91-30s in july. i still need to buy 1 more yet but it is censored to speak of them on this forum unless i hear otherwise. next friday i should have money to get real one..... :D
