Re: Interest in new production Mosin receivers?

I guess I’m not understanding what a commercial sporter is. I’m thinking a sporterized military rifle.

Re: Interest in new production Mosin receivers?

Commercial spotters are still a mix of parts from the late 1800s to early 1900s. The only options for 54r would be mosins, and 3 very expensive semi autos. A clone of the SV-98 would be nice as well.

Interest in new production Mosin receivers?

A company that builds rem 700 actions said it would cost 10,000 or more just to produce a prototype, new Mosin receiver with built in scope mounting. If 100 people put in 100 that would cover it. Wouldn’t that be interesting? New receivers , new bolts.

Re: I f up.

It would have gone on just fine if the band was not upside down. Took bites out of the stock most of the way down. Just looks terrible, is all. Put some tung oil finish over the exposed wood looks a little better and is not bare wood anymore.

Re: reloading 7.62x54

I have tried reloader 15 and h380 so far. Load data for 54r seems very Conservative. From quick load and Gordon’s reloading tool. The pressures created with “max” charges listed are usually less than 45k psi. The 46gr 15 I have settled on barely reaches max 357 mag pressures as simulated. Using horn...

Re: Hex receiver date

https://thinlineweapons.com/7.62x54r/7. ... D/0104.jpg mine looks like this. I’m pretty sure it’s 1920 on mine. Numbers almost worn off. The numbers under the tang are to small for me, it almost looks like 1916.

Re: Hex receiver date

Ok, the letters and numbers are a bit worn off. What looked like 1990 to me, is actually 1920. The hex receiver is also of that era wire no plugged grease hole.

Hex receiver date

The barrel on my Hex Reciever C.A.I. Import does not have a date. When did they start stamping the manufacture date?

I f up.

I just realized the hand guard bands go one way. Kinda scuffed up my 91/30 hand guards.

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!

Just picked up a M44 C.A.I import. Pretty good shape I guess for something from 1946
