Re: 1931 Izhevsk mosin with imperial eagle?
I have a 1926 Izhevsk ex-Dragoon that has a tang date of 1926 but I am convinced it is an earlier receiver as it has a partial stamp on the top of the tang that looks nearly identical to a stamp on the tang of my N.E.W and there is a "dimple" on top of the receiver where it feels like the ...

Re: No refurb marks
I have a 1926 Izhevsk ex-Dragoon that has a post-war stock, has been counter-bored and clearly refurbed at least once but that has no refurb arsenal stamp/mark on either the barrel shank or receiver. I guess sometimes they get missed especially if the rifles are rushed through to meet targets, overs...

Re: Looking for a little help with an M91.
You should really completely disassemble it, clean and inspect each part, and check the headspace before firing it. More than likely it will shoot high. My N.E.W shoots 15" high at 100m with the rear sight set to 400 Arshins when using full power FMJ rounds.....but I worked up a reduced 200gr ...

Re: Looking for a little help with an M91.
That's a beauty. Could have been a Finn purchased rifle, or captured. The stock is Finnish 2 piece winter stock to keep the rifle accurate at 40 below. Be careful with the barrel bands, left hand threads and small rusty bolts. The barrel band threads are actually right hand threads, it is because t...

A very nice looking rifle indeed, I love the "been there, done that" look that old M91's like this have.

1917 Remington M91 with German ersatz bayonet adapter.
She is an all matching 1917 Remington M91 was shipped to Russia, captured by the Germans early in its career and fitted with an ersatz bayonet adapter and ended up sending it to Finland as war aid to the White Finns during the Finnish Civil War.The consensus against Finnish collectors is that judgin...

Taking into account that it is an original all matching Remington with a rare Type II bayonet adapter fitted is it worthy of a place in The Showcase?

Re: 1917 Remington Finnish Capture question about stock
The crossed cannons cartouche on the butt is the stockmakers mark, the "Z" denotes you have a stock made by Oy EkWall AB. The "crossed cannons" markings on the stocks are not maker's but inspector's markings based on information I have seen in the National Archives of Finland. T...

Re: 1917 Remington Finnish Capture question about stock
Thank REM, she is a very pretty 91/30 even if I do say so myself but she's a bit of a mongrel when it comes to it......she's got a mix of Izhevsk, pre-'26 Izhevsk, Tula, and Remington parts plus a Sestroryetsk buttplate just to throw a bit of Imperial M91 into the mix!

1917 Remington M91 now with German ersatz bayonet fitted
Last week I picked up a nice EB9 German ersatz bayonet with scabbard to compliment the Remington, it fits perfectly and looks pretty good if I do say so myself...... _20200911_184547.JPG _20200917_001400.JPG _20200917_001645.JPG _20200917_001524.JPG ww1ersatzbayonet _2_-800x600.jpeg ww1ersatzbayonet...

Re: 1917 Remington Finnish Capture question about stock
This is the pot-belly stock on my 41-marked Finnish-captured 91/30 and it is the original finish..... Captured or acquired???
Here's a genuine question and one I asked in another thread but thought it may be worth one of its own so here we go........... My question is as the Finns captured, purchased and traded Mosins from numerous sources over many decades as well as having supplies of them already in Finland prior to gai...

Re: What can you tell me about my M91?
Very nice looking rifle and as said it was Finn'd as the rear sight is remarked in metres on the right-hand side and there is a SA stamp on the barrel shank.
The barrel shank marks look nice and sharp, do any of the serial numbers match?.

Re: 1917 Remington Finnish Capture question about stock
Nice Finnish two piece stock, the finish looks to be the same as my Finnish 91/30 pot-belly stock. The crossed cannons cartouche on the butt is the stockmakers mark, the "Z" denotes you have a stock made by Oy EkWall AB. My pot-belly stock has the same mark and the following was sent to me...

Re: 1917 Remington with German ersatz bayonet adapter
Nice find, beautiful rifle, thanks for posting. I have never seen or heard of a Mosin rifle with a bayonet adapter for a blade bayonet. Are you sure it's for a German bayonet, any chance the adapter fits a P14/17 or even an 03 bayonet, rifles that did not ship to Russia were used for training in th...

Re: New England Westinghouse
I'd say that as the stock still has the English Contract cartouche on the butt it is the original N.E.W American walnut stock, unless the Finns spliced a new fore end on to it and made a two piece stock out of it.
Any pics?
