Canned Ammo

Post by Siam »

Looks like the New Year brought a price increase in the 54r ammo. SG Ammo raised the price on Bulgarian light ball by $22 over the 12/2012 price. Still, they seem to be cheaper than others, and their shipping is very reasonable. Sooooo, I just ordered a case of the Russian, 1960's, light ball, steel core ammo from them. Don't think ammo is going to get any cheaper in the near future.

I save the older stuff for the ammo collection, I have other stuff for the apocalypse :) I buy the older stuff only in small batches just to get examples of the headstamps for the collection.

I bought a can from Copes 4 days ago, but it's all gone now. Was $95 to my door. Had to pay Ohio sales tax otherwise it would have bee cheaper.

Bought a 300 round tin of the 147g stripper clip ammo from Ammo To Go on 12-27-12.
According to an email I got today, it won't even ship until Jan 24th to 30th.
But the total price was only $80.41, just hope I eventually get it.

Ordered some more of the 46 grain training ammo from SG Ammo and they said to
add an extra 5 days for shipping. Yesterday they had 14 cases, last night they had
4 cases and now they are out.

Also ordered some more Russian surplus 7.62 Nagant for my pistol from AIM,
they said to add an extra 10 to 14 days to process and ship.

I am glad I stockpiled some while the getting was good, I rarely shoot anything but .22 anymore so I have a lifetime supply of .30

I ordered 2 spam cans from them this morning. They already updated the order to "completed". Hopefully that means it will ship tomorrow!

Likewise, though I do shoot enough .223, 7.62x39, and 7.62x54R to keep my hand in, so to speak.

Just saw tonight that AIM shipped my 440 rd. can of Bul. silver tip. $72.95 plus ship. Almost 2 weeks from my order. Think i may order a crate of the Russian lead core if i can come up with the jingle.

Got the case yesterday. 1964, 188. The rivet on the metal band was stamped with a star and 188. The crate show a lot of age but the cans (newer style) are in perfect condition.

My order of 2 spam cans packed in cardboard showed up middle of last week. That night I went on SGammo's website and saw they listed more (the lot I bought from was sold out the next day). So what did I do? I upped the ante to (2) 880 rounds crates. Posted as order complete 24 hours later, and 24 hours after that I got a UPS shipping notice. Fast action on SG's part! This recent order is slated to arrive on Wednesday.
