What part of the bolt is it for taking apart?

The part that tries to explode across the kitchen on you...

It's just for kicks and giggles, basically a piece of aluminum angle with a notch for the bolt handle to go down into and lock back, the bolt lays in between the back of the angle and another small piece of aluminum that bolts to the main body of the tool. Then there's a piece of all-thread with the butt end of a fired casing attached to the end of it for the firing pin to ride on. You turn the knob on the end to compress the spring, then spin the cocking piece off the end of the bolt, release pressure on the spring then remove the bolt from the fixture.

Started when I had way too much time on my hands... been working on it a minute here and there over the past year or so, lol.

After watching the video I thought maybe I should buy a spare bolt assembly to practice on. So I did. Now I am almost as good as JYD at taking it apart and putting it together. I keep it next to my TV chair, and while the commercials are running, I work on the bolt.

You bought an entire bolt just for that? You could have used the ones in your Mosins, you will not hurt them unless you mess with the extractor, and the more you work them the more broke in they get.

I also wanted a spare bolt for "just in case" emergencies. The bolts in my Mosins are all lubed.

Good to have spare parts, don't forget the trigger pin, the most lost part of a Mosin.

Great video. Being new to Mosins these little hints and tips are great. Just had to replace the extractor on my M1 carbine... let me tell you how much fun that was

I use the inside of one of my desk drawers in lieu of the pine, but under no circumstances do this on your wifes coffee, or dining room table.

No we didn't buy it that way, but with 2 kids, a son in law, a daughter in law, 2 grandkids and a family that says, "Hey lets go to their house, They have a big yard and we can EAT THEIR FOOD and generally screw up their stuff and after we make a mess we can bug out" The table has seen better days. I usually go into the basement "Play Room" where the loading benches and all the other goodies are stored but when the last one came in, (and she wasn't home) I said...."What she doesn't know, won't hurt me"
