Smith and Wesson 1000M: My first auto!

Post by BlakeM44 »

No pics for now. It has decent wood on it. 2 3/4" barrel, but from what I've read, the "M" designates a 3" reciever. I'm also wondering how I can tell if it's the old or new production (I'm assuming old). It has screw in chokes and the old style thick brown buttpad. It was too beautiful to pass up. I could've had an 11-48 for the same price, but I just loved the look of the Smith too much. It also has a vent rib. Paid 400 including tax. Did I do okay?

No pics :vconfused: Oh well, sounds like a nice piece, I don't know about the price, sounds good to me, but I don't track the price trends on these. :vcool: :vcool: :vcool:

S&W 1000 autos and 3000 pumps are solid, well made guns. Many a PD used the pumps for cruiser guns. I probably would have gotten the 11-48 myself; I like the way they come up to the shoulder, just like the Sportsman 58, 1100, 11-87, 870 and 887. If I was buying a duck/ upland/ goose gun today, it would be the 887.

Keep the gas port area clear of all oil, they'll gum up and and cause malfunctions.

Enjoy your S&W 1000, Blake44! 8-)

Thanks guys! I love the comfortable weight and the way it draws. Really balanced for an auto.
