Got a Makarov Pistol

Post by Burrhead »

This past Sunday I took the plunge on a IJ70 Makarov Pistol in 9X18 Makarov. Price was $295 plus tax not bad in my opinion. I have yet to take it down to clean it and I am working the week end again so I don't know when I'll get to try it out but it looks new except for a little scratch where the safety has been turned back and forth. So I will post a pictures of it and some of my other "Commie Guns".

For some reason I can't get my second picture to load, oh well I'll try again later, it's not a size problem as it's only 264K.

You didn't get a bad deal on the IJ70 Makarov. These have not been imported since the mid-90's. They are starting to go up in value. I have one which I bought in 1993 for half what you paid, so I would say you did good after twenty years. I love the Makarov; a simple, accurate pistol that is typical Russian -- utterly reliable.

Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

Thanks guys by the way I found my problem with my loading pictures. Well actually my son found it, my cable modem was going out so I had to replace it. I haven't had time to do much but look at the pistol what with work the way it is. But I'll give an update when I get a chance to shoot it.

All my guns are my favorites. This is the one I would reach for in the middle of the night. Good choice!

Nice Mak. Looks like a Russian. I have a Russian commercial .380 Mak. Looks and shoots great. One of my favorite shooters.
