Is the wait always this bad? Wait OVER! (updated)
Is the wait always this bad? Wait OVER! (updated)
Sorry for the vague title... First C&R purchase and my first Mosin. UPS tracking says tomorrow, I feel like a kid on Christmas eve!
First time excitement? Or more of the same from each successive box I open up in the future? Is it the unknown condition/year/markings or the mysterious thoughts of "where have you been, what have you done?" history aspect?
Maybe I'm just crazy...
Thib

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Simple answer:
Welcome to MM , Mosinitis Madness!
Wait until you get adicted to the perfume of the rifle: Cosmoline and No 9 oil, it will rip your heart out, if you can't have it.....

Prepare to become best friends with your UPS driver. Until you start ordering ammo by the case. I always warn my regular driver and if he can he has another driver take his route that day.

Re: Is the wait always this bad?
My old driver from ten years back was complaining non stop that I was breaking his back. He left on a medical ( his back) and the new guy always seems to be off sick on the days I get crates of ammo delivered ![smile :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)

My first few, drove me crazy. The wait was unbearable, but as you buy more, it will get better. That is my secret for you. Buy more and it gets easier.

Re: Is the wait always this bad?
Thanks, Thib, you got it.....
...the right attitude for in here.....
![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
There may be buyers, yes, with all their rifles in oil only like sardines, remembering the time....when the box was unopened....
Well, I guess i'm not gonna need it, I always keep a new one, not force-decosmolined yet, but partially done with No 9 under my bed....
Hon, do we have to have this gun smell in here all the time? No, only until she is ready to go into the safe! Yeah right, and then there is a new one already there? Maybe, Hon.......

Re: Is the wait always this bad?
The wait to get one is the exciting part of Mosinitis syndrome for me.
If corporations are people, when will we see one executed?

Welcome aboard Thib. It is nice to see that USAF logo. Not many members here have indicated that they are Air Force associated.

21 years, all National Guard, just retired 2 months ago. Combat Comm / Satcom.
That 431 AFSC of yours relates to Aircraft if my memory serves me right.
That is just sad. California law is lovely...desertgunner wrote:my last one for today:

The way I recall it, AFSC 43151C indicated Aircraft mechanic, single engine jet, Skill level 5.Thib wrote:....That 431 AFSC of yours relates to Aircraft if my memory serves me right.
I worked as a crew chief on F-84F and F-100D. I still have orders permitting me to start up, run, and taxi those aircraft. I thought about taking those orders out to nearby Ellsworth AFB and see if they would let me fire up the old F-84F they have there. (Just a pipe dream of course.)
