Aguila sniper subsonic 60 grain: field testing

Post by sharpie443 »

I did a rather in-depth testing of this ammunition. It's the first video of a two part testing. The second part will be testing it with a few different suppressors. Had some interesting results in this video, when comparring it's preformace out of different .22 rifles.

Good video, thank you, I have been considering trying the subsonic rounds myself, this is very helpful. :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Should've picked some up at the gun show at the airport!

I nailed a woodchuck with one at 15 yards some years back, shooting under the back of the Bronco  with one. It staggered a couple steps; I didn't need to put the second one into it, just wanted to be sure.

I've had mixed results with the Aguila 60gr SSS rounds. The bullet needs a fast twist barrel for stabilization. The typical .22 lr barrel is a 1:16 twist - not really fast enough for the heavy bullet. This is why you were seeing the rounds keyhole at 25 yds.

My best success with the SSS rounds is when I shoot them through my AR-15 (1:9 twist barrel) using a Ciener .22 lr conversion kit. Even with that, accuracy is only about 1.5 - 2 inches at 50 yds. YMMV.
