Hello all,
My dad gifted me a Mosin as he is downsizing.

I know it is an 1915 Izhevsk with Finniah markings. Other than that I don't know how to evaluate its condition or value. I am not looking to sell it for semitimental reasons ( plus it's a cool piece of history) but I would like to know more about it and what its market value might be.

Finn marked M91, these were the rifles Finland inherited from Russia after independence, or bought later from the Germans that they then used to arm their own military. They fought two world wars, and the Finn civil war after separation from Russia. Nice piece of history that has a good mix of parts from Various arsenals that made the Mosin. That parts mix is typical of these rifles. I haven't kept current on the values given that I am not selling any of mine and am not buying any either so I don't much care. I can tell you that your father probably paid under a hundred bucks for it if he bought it in the 80's or 90's, under $200 if it was the early 2000's. I know because I was buying them then.

My dad was a learned Russian in the Air force. Pretty sure he picked it up in the 80s. Don't think he ever fired it.
