Gun show find(s)

Post by ffuries »

Went to the gunshow, with my son-in-law, about 1 1/2 hours away (Ft Walton)....Wow lots of milsurps.

Found a M91 Mosin Nagant lockring bayonet, he had it listed at $90.00, had $80.00 in my wallet and $1,000.00 plus stashed in my pocket. Pulled the $80.00 out and before I could get into the stash, he said I'll let you have $80.00. So I took his offer and brought it home. Don't know what country made or used the post-war bayonet sheath or if it's a fantasy piece, but it came with the bayonet. The material is a greenish color, and seems a similar to the slings. So one more M91 bayonet and every rifle I have will have a bayonet. Guy that had the bayonet had a CZ-82 but it was rough looking. But found another CZ-82 at another table, where my SIL found a KaBar he liked, that came home with me.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Cool find. I miss the days of going to a gun show that had a lot of nice surplus rifles and accessories.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I agree with you 100%, the ones near me have turned into more of a jewelry, Cutlery Corner knife shows.I don’t think I have purchased a gun from a gun show since 2011/2012.

I've only purchased 3 guns in the last 9 months. An 1896 M1891 Carcano, 1972 S&W M15-3 aka K38, a 1989 CZ-82.

We left Shalimar Florida for Fort Benning and I missed the gun show in Fort Walton.
I keep telling myself that I need to make sure of the dates the next time we travel to Elgin.
I have bought a number of firearms, most recently I purchased a copy of a Browning High Power. Not sure who manufactured it, but it looks like one but the serial numbers are incorrect.
I did “rescue” what would have been a beautiful Finnish Mosin earlier this year.
The previous owner spray painted the entire stock.
Other than that I bought a few bayonets here and there.

The next Ft Walton show is scheduled for 18-19 Nov 2023. Here's the Panhandle 2023 schedule.
