Mosin receiver and bolt: how it was made

Hello all,

I was curious if anyone documented how these guns were actually manufactured, i.e. what were the actual machining processes involved. The only film footage I've seen shows the parts assembly and not the actual machining. I'm assuming it was very similar to other bolt guns of the era.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Yeah, you are not likely to find video footage of the plants. The Russians were kind of paranoid about anyone seeing anything about the manufacturing of their firearms. Even today they wouldn't release the old information.

These are Mausers. But the process would be essentially the same.

That is so cool! Wish it were in better resolution, but still fascinating to watch.

Unfortunately no filming of how they milled/turned the receiver itself.
