I paid too much for it at the time....$359, but, I wanted it.

Is that a heat treatment they did to those stocks to get the striping, or burnishing ?

Flame birch is a variant of usually Betula pendula or more rarely Betula pubescens. The pattern is further enhanced by "kiväärintukkiöljy" oil finish.

It is natural in the wood like extra curly maple is. What you put on it sometimes make it stand out.
