Help identifying late father's mosin sniper

Post by AUDIONERDNFT »

I'm new to the wwii Era firearms. Inherited this from my fathers collection and don't know much about it. Trying to figure out if it's legit or a copy etc. Any help would be fantastic!

Would need to see better (and closer) photos of it.

Without seeing more so I could make positive sure.....

The scope base I can see enought of.
The Scope mount looks after market
The scope looks (after market}
The back of the scope mount looks wrong (after market}
The bolt is wrong. (after market}
Can't see any import marks, so I can't tell if it is real a made up, (after market) sniper.

But my "guess" would be it is a after market sniper rifle made from a M91/30 Mosin Nagant Infantry rifle.

Without any better photos.

and as is often said, if it shoots well, then go out and enjoy a rifle of the style of what the snipers would have used on the battlefield.....have fun..

I am sorry to hear that your father is gone. Enjoy the rifle as one of his keepsakes.

Yes, maybe not "authentic" but, it was your Father's...right?
That makes it valuable.

From blowing up the pics I can say that the scope, mount, and bolt are all reproductions, and I believe the rifle is just a regular 91/30 that was converted to a reproduction sniper.

Now that said it is a treasured piece of your fathers collection and you should enjoy the memories it will bring.
