After doing some more looking, I've found folks shooting these with .27 (yellow) nail gun caps, and a #3 buckshot (.25) with no patch or a #4 buck .(24) with a patch. This is a rolling block we are talking, I wouldn't try it in a semi auto or pistol.

I'd try the pellets. They are light and would be fast.

It wouldn't be much different that having a .25 muzzleloader, easier to load really, without all that rotten egg black shit stink.

The 43 grain pellets won't take the powder charge, too soft. I've got some.25 cal. 45 grain solid slugs ordered, they should work fine. The #3 .27 cal nail caps are plenty to push a bullet probably to .22 short speeds at least. I'm gonna try some # 4 later.

These .25 slugs work, but not tight in the bore, have to use a thin patch. Anyone know a source for .253 or .254 cast bullets ?
