Good Day...

Post by awalker1829 »

Today was a good day-negotiated the acquisition of a Czech K98, Spanish Mauser of a model yet to be positively identified and a No. 4 Mk 1 Enfield with a Mk 2 rear sight. The Enfield needs a follower and spring for the magazine and the K98 needs two machine screws. The Spanish Mauser is complete including the cleaning rod. All I know about it is that it’s chambered in 7x57 Mauser, based on the import mark (most of which is illegible). The Enfield and K98 passed the headspace inspection-the Spanish Mauser has not been checked as I don’t yet have the gauges for it.

Of course, now I need a No. 4 Mk 1 with a Mk 3 sight and other variations of the other guns. I also need the dies for reloading 7x57 Mauser and brass.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I only have one question. Why post a Mauser post in the Mosin collectable forum? LOL

Milsurps are milsurps. At the price I got them at, they were reasonable, especially considering current conditions.

Did I miss something ?

The title of this section of the forum is: "Collectible Military Firearms"

Are K98s no longer collectible?

If not I guess I have to get rid of mine.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Prices were negotiable and reasonable. My friend's son is also a collector so I get everything that he passes on. Maybe someday I'll see if he's willing to sell the two Army jeeps he has in the back lot.
