Single shot

Modern rifles and Sportsters are discussed here.

Sportsters:
We don't advocate making Sportsters from military surplus rifles. We do recognize the ones already made in years past as pieces of history and of importance (such as the Bannerman, Blindee and old custom sportsters). If you bought one, you may show it here. Discussion of how to do this kind of work is not allowed. It is contrary to our over all forum values. So please don't abuse this forum. All final decisions will be made by the Administrators and no one else please. Non permanent alterations may be shown here but keep in mind, if it is in conflict with the "spirit" of these forums, we may remove it at our discretion.

Single shot

Post by +dhic »

Finally got all my bills paid from my trip to the hospital after all the rocks fell off that dump truck. Got a really good report from my team of heart Drs this morning. So I decide to celebrate with a trip to a local gun shop.i found a new Uberti high wall
copy of the 1885 Win. This one is chambered in 38-55 Win.This one may get to be a favorite. One of the clubs I belong to has some steel set up at 200 yds. Well try a couple of pics of the rifle and maybe one of all the rocks that came off the truck.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Mike, the wife and I were meeting a dump truck on a 2lane state hiway. He hit a bump and a bunch of rocks slid off and hit us just as we came even with the truck. I saw some start falling and threw up my arm as I tried to lean left. There was a 9lb rock came through the windshield and hit my forearm that was across my face. Came real close to killing me, the wife didn't get a scratch. The body shop recovered a 8 1/2 lb rock where our right headlight was supposed to be.

Good gawd, after seeing the pictures and reading the story, I felt achy. Damn you were lucky there isn't any other way to call it. Should have bought a lottery ticket.

All kidding aside, I'm glad yall are okay, glad you healed up, and are around to joke about it.

Nice rifle, Uberti makes good stuff. Very lucky escape, have seen a few vehicles that had deer come through the glass at high speed. One of those was a fatality. Secure the damn load people.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
