I want to get a pellet rifle. Something not too expensive, but would like some "power" behind it.

I've got a 12 year old Crossman that's stainless steel. I dusted off two birds out of my garage that refused to leave and three large hornets that made their way into the room off of my garage one night I left the light on. 10' ceilings was too far to reach the hornets and part of the reason the birds wouldn't leave the last couple of weeks. 6-10 pumps is good for birds and field rats. I can hit a paper plate at maybe 20 yards without the 2x ($2) scope it came with. I've gotten two snakes out of the pool in one day years ago.

I was eyeballing the higher power ones at Wally World my last time in there, too.

I've got an older Beeman (1992ish) in .20 cal. It's very accurate out to about 50yds and has claimed many a crow in its day. At the time I opted for the .20 cal as a nice mix of power & distance but it seems like these days that round is pretty much obsolete and the .22 & .25 cal have really stepped up. Seems to be a lot of different manufacturers out there now and almost all produce a good gun at a reasonable price.

Crosman Nitro Venom - no open sights, weaver rail with included center point 4x32 scope. Break barrel, gas piston single shot. Available .177 or .22 cal. pellet - 170.00 - hit a quarter at 75 ft. 1200 fps. Had one for three years, no problems.

I still have my Benjamin .177 caliber pump that my step-father bought for me when I was 9 or so. Thirty five years later it still shoots lights out. I still shoot it in the back yard every now and then. You can't beat a good quality pump pellet rifle IMHO. I have no idea what the quality is in pellet rifles now, but that old Benjamin has served me well over thousands of shots. It was that bane of pop cans, varmits, and birds that came within range back in the day. Very accuarate and effective from 50 yards in. Considering how young I was when I got it, I think it's in pretty darn good shape.

Got it about year ago. Shot it only at approximately 25 feet and it is accurate. Comes with scope. I shot it with fixed fiber optic sights. I like it.
Last picture shows 3 used surplus 7.62x54R shells hit by .177 pellet from this rifle @ 25ft.

In the late 60's I had a Crossman .22, 6-8 pumps and My Cuz had a Sheridan blue streak 5MM. Both would knock bottle caps around the yard all day. The local squirrels caught hell and hot lead, or is it cold lead? A Couple of businessmen we knew that had upstairs offices in our small town made keyhole shots at pigeons on rooftops with the same guns out of their windows across the street. I think liquor was involved.

About ten years ago, the Chinese were bringing in tons of single-break pellet rifles. I got one in .177 for $20.00 and it does the job. The last time I saw one for sale they were over twice the price, but still a bargain. A year or so ago, it started getting a little weak and I tore it down and found a faucet washer that fit the piston seal perfectly and it is back to delivering severe warnings to unwanted animals.

I think I got one similar from a traveling tool show. It's as heavy as a real rifle. Break over and one pellet installed at a time. I may have to dig it out of the closet. I got mine close to 15 years ago maybe.

Yep, those are the ones, every flea market had the things as well. The Hi Point of pellet guns; ugly, heavy, but powerful and accurate.

I literally just got it from the farthest slot on my closet rack. There's not any markings at all. The rubber seal on the chamber looks like it was maybe a natural rubber judging by the deterioration. It still blows good but I don't have any pellets to try it out.
