The Ottoman empire first captured Mosins from Russia during the later part of the endless Russo-Turkish wars , then it was captured back by the Soviets and sent to Spain, the other captured by the Ottoman empire during the same wars and recaptured by the Russian's then captured by the Germans and then sold to Finland in the 1920's. A long torturous road to your door.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I swear some of you keep finding rifles that are like history books. All I can say is wow, those have been around the block a few times and then some.

Thanks so much for posting these two fantastic Mosins. You very rarely see Mosins with these marks, except sometimes on the rear sight.

I was thrilled when I found one with just the rear sight marked and in the many years since then, I have seen less than 5 now with markings on the barrel shank or receiver. And you found two.

Congratulations.

What are the top three words on the 1894? Does the DR stamp on the wood mean German occupied Finnland?

The Arabic are the serial number and the other is "made in USSR"

The "Made in USSR" stamping is found on Mosin Nagants from Spain.
