M24 Review ......Post your M24's here!!

Post by Darryl »

OK, Now it time for the M24's to come out of the safes and be photoed!!

I've seen some really nice one on the forums here!!!

Let's post them up!!!

(I only have one available, but here it is). I'll photo the rest later!!

“Lottakivaari” or “Lotta’s rifle"
1896 Tula Receiver
Bohler-Stahl Stepped Barrel
SY mark on barrel
Finnish Sling Wire Swivels

It's not normally this shinny. I put some lemon oil on it (many years ago now!)

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Just bought this one. I should have it in a week or so. Bohler-Stahl. I have another BS, and still need a nice SIG (I know where one is, if the owner hasn't sold it yet, just need $$$).

I almost bid against you on that one. I bought the M28/30 from him last week. I am holding out for a SIG.

I am surprised too. Just about the same thing happened with the M28/30. I was the second bidder, only $5 above the opening bid.

Maybe it's like JYD said on another thread, Christmas time people don't buy firearms or antiques they buy toys and electronics?

Yes I am. It isn't exactly what I am looking for, but at the right price it would do. Do you have any idea whose collection they are selling off? It is one of the greatest collections I have ever seen. Seems the original owner bought just about every type of Milsurp one could own. Did you see the Johnson already at $3k?

Yeah, i have been following what he is selling. It's a shame all that collecting work gets sold off for cash but I guess that will happen to most of our collections.
Not everyone love theses rifles and would prefer the money, luckily for us.

It's not just him. His father (I think) is selling them too. From what I can gather his mother was the sister of the collector because he states his Uncle's Collection. The other seller calls it his brother in law's collection. They use the same template.

My other M24 is a Bohler-Stahl as well. Nice walnut Westinghouse stock with civil guard number. Screw in retaining piece on the front band. I haven't disassembled this yet due to the barrel band retaining pins that are pounded into the stock. These have made it impossible to remove the front band (I would have to file the front pin in order to remove the band).

Get to join the club after today, just traded for this beauty earlier today with a gentleman who had two of them

Haven't had a chance to take it apart and see which barrel or which maker of the receiver yet.

Here's a SIG straight barrel with a three digit serial number (370). No dot in front of the number, but a small S instead. Matching bolt with receiver marked with a random number on the back. Anyone have an earlier number - maybe a two digit serial? We'd love to see it.
