Grenade launcher

Post by Witchdoctor »

Hello all, question about the SKS grenade launcher attachment, are they legal ? Have seen some models that come with it already installed...and if they are in fact legal to own, will the Yugo model fit the Chinese version or is there one made that will fit ?

On the subject of the grenade launcher, it depends on your state laws. Some Yugo's do not have the launcher. I don't know of anyone that tried to put one on another rifle. The Yugo rifles with the launcher will also have the launcher sights and gas block.

Gotcha, it's not that it's real important just a curiosity thing really....never see a Chinese model with one but Yugo's quite frequently, thanks...been doing research on them all and just making inquiries about the different ones.

M59/66A1's have it, M59/66's do not. Quite frankly, I found it more an annoyance and extra weight than any potential advantage.

Speaking of the launcher were can a person get a dummy grenade that will fit. It would be fun to be able to shoot it. they say they will go a couple hundred yds.

The launcher is likely legal in most places, the grenade it uses will get you tossed in the joint every place.

A couple years ago there was a guy that made an attachment for Yugo's that shot tennis balls.

There are some outfits that manufacture the piece required to launch an item using the grenade launcher. Most of them are made to fit golf or tennis balls. If someone has a training grenade (inert), they might be able to shoot it at a range (depending on rules). At any rate, the user needs to remember that only blanks should be used when launching anything.

IIRC, the launcher on the Yugoslavian SKS is welded to the muzzle. Only reason to cut it off is to comply with laws in certain states or the now dead Clinton Gun Ban.

I could haul out my 59/66A1 and look but it's hotter than the winds of hell today, all my energy is gone, and digging guns out of my vaults is work. We will see.

The only removal process I can recall for the Yugo SKS grenade launcher involves using a hacksaw-rather permanent in nature. Only practical use I can think of for the grenade launcher would be line throwing-Coasties and the Navy still use rifles for that purpose. The United States Life Saving Service used small mortars for that purpose.

Yugo SKS grenade launcher is screwed on, then pinned. And has the same threads as a L1A1 FAL. 9/16 x 14 right hand thread.
Practice grenades were available for $50 each. Lost the link but it could be found again.
