Some Finnish Ammo Pouches....
Some Finnish Ammo Pouches....
As requested, here is my Finnish ammo pouch collection. As it stands I believe I have an example of most of the types that were most heavily used by Finland 1939-45, but I'm sure there'll be some other minor variant come along that I'l have to get...
Imperial German M1909 pouch. [SA] and SY marked. These were the most commonly used pouch by the Finns. These can be found with Finnish repairs or added rivets to keep them in service just that little while longer.....
Finnish made pouch - I'm not sure if these have an official nomenclature. This one is made by Fritallan Brothers in 1928. [SA] marked. These are made from slightly thicker leather and are a little larger than the German M1909.
Finnish rubberised canvas three cell pouch. Made in 1941, this one is [SA] marked. I've read that these were made to hold Carcano clips as well as Mosin chargers. There is a slightly different configuration of this pouch out there.
Finnish web and leather three cell pouch. Not much is known about this one, no one from Finland that I've shown it to has seen the type before. [SA] marked. Fritallan Brothers marked domes on the straps. Leather straps are very think. Maybe an ersatz variant of the above pouch?
Polish wz35 ammo pouch. These were given to Finalnd by Germany in 1940. [SA] marked.
Finnish nine pocket canvas bandolier. There's a few different variants of these, this one is secured with string ties.
Finnish nine pocket canvas bandolier, this one secured with a wire buckle.
This either an Imperial Russian or Soviet pre-1930 M1895 ammo pouch. [SA] marked. If its Soviet, its captured, if its Imperial Russian it may have been in Finland in 1918 or bought from another country between the wars.
Soviet M1937 pouch captured by the Finns. The Soviets stopped making this type in late 1941. It is marked but they are illegible. [SA] marked.
Does anyone else have any other types of Finnish used ammo pouch that I don't have?

Thanks for sharing fernleaf

Thanks for posting - again a truly awesome collection.
Well, I guess I can add two more here...
First a three-chamber ammo pouch made from rubberized canvas. I guess this is the "slightly different variant" mentioned above by fernleaf. I got this one directly from Karl-Heinz Wrobel, who pictured this very pouch also in vol. II of his books on the Mosin-Nagant rifles. Second is an unissued Sk.Y.-marked ammo bandolier which I acquired directly from a Finnish source.

Ok... I'm officially jealous...
Re: Some Finnish Ammo Pouches....
Wow very neat guys! I have bits and pieces of such stuff but I concentrate on saving my bucks for the guns that go with them and have done that for years. Just different strokes for different folks and I like looking at this stuff for sure. I always kind of think which rifle would that go with and often have no idea unless I look things up. Such is life I guess. Do keep them coming as I learn with every post on accoutrements. Bill

Excellent collection, thank you for sharing them.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an
invasion, butcher a hog, design a building, conn a ship, write a
sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the
dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve an
equation, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a
computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.
